I prefer day one experiences that cater towards the many rather than the few.
A lot of elite players (largely players who play Destiny for a living) began discourse about how RoN was “too easy”, with many following suit.
Completion on average still requires dedicated players and creates many great memories for those who completed their first day one (myself included).
If the climax of Final Shape is in the raid, I’d rather more people complete it Day One rather than have it spoiled or only done by an extremely small minority of the player-base (less than 1%).
Gatekeeping experiences to appease players who use it mostly for monitory gain, poorly serves the majority of the player-base.
(I will not be replying to anyone in the forum as it is toxic, this is solely for Bungie (if they look here or not), I do not have Twitter or Reddit [& don’t want to get it] good day to you all & take care ✌️)

15 RepliesEdited by D2 Is Bad: 9/5/2023 1:43:13 PMDisabling gear to create an artificial challenge for only a 48 hour period is bad game design. I think the raid should be release at its intended difficulty from the start with nothing disabled, and if that means it's cleared in 30 minutes then that's on Bungie. Crota should have been challenge mode from the start. Having to run it twice in a 48 hour period is simply disrespectful of the average person's time. Root of Nightmares was fun on challenge, and it was accessible. Sitting and having to watch elite streamers play the game instead of actually PLAYING the game feels like an archaic model that is long overdue for a rework. It's sad to see that we regressed from this experience. Not everyone has to agree with this take, but the fact remains that Destiny's core player base is CASUAL. If you want to play a hard game, great! I heard the Dark Souls series is fun.

3 RepliesHonestly id rather see bungie just add contest as a seperate mode for two days so everyone else can just enjoy the raid.

Bungie isn’t listening to any of this. Not any topic; not any thread.

Edited by Andy-ALAW BEEP-BEEP: 9/5/2023 3:53:24 PMPeople need to stop crying over contest mode, it is designed for the strong sweaty players It’s not hard to wait 48 hours for the raid to become normal mode and more manageable
-
Last Wish - was completed by very few yet is considered one of the best raids ever made. Root of Nightmares - was laughably easy and was one of the most disappointing day 1 raids. It’s now considered to be pretty boring and personally it’d consider it to be one of the worst raids currently in the game. Day 1 raids are not meant to be easy, they’re not for everyone. Wether you like it or not, they’re for the elite to go head to head and test themselves. If you don’t manage to complete contest, that’s ok, it’s just an emblem. Once the 48 hours are over then everyone can jump back in and give it another go. If you’re serious about day 1 raids, get a team together, practice and put the effort in. Don’t ask for it to be made easier because you’re too lazy to put the effort in.

Day one is supposed to be difficult. It's only up for 2 days. It's supposed to be something very few people complete. It's a flex for the super hard-core. Let em have it who cares

1 ReplySays he won’t reply to anyone because he knows he has a bad take😂😂

1 Replyi hope the difficulty of final shap raid is at the same level of crota d1, this day one had the perfect middle ground
-
Tbh while I would like some raids that are easy such as RoN I think the BIG FINAL should be hard not easy. However artificial 10% decrease to our damage was not the way to go.

1 ReplyI agree and disagree. I agree only in the sense that, maybe contest mode should be extended until the weekly reset, or one extra day. I really don't feel this harms anyone, and only gives everyone more of an opportunity to do it. No, I don't think that it diminishes the reward, as the difficulty is still there. I disagree in the sense that, it absolutely should be difficult/on par with things like crotas end. Firstly, it's really the only times of the year the Destiny community has something truly difficult to sink it's teeth into. There's something really magical about trying to overcome those overwhelming odds, and it makes me wish the game had more opportunities like it. Not to mention, usually the contest mode raid race is a really good indicator of how good the raid actually is. Root of Nightmares wasn't less difficult because of anything they did under the hood for contest, it's because the raid itself and its mechanics were easier. You wanting an easier contest mode experience is most likely going to hurt the core experience of the normal raid, and no one wants that.

Agreed

My problem with reprised raids is just having to do it twice. Rather just go straight into challenge mode at the start.

I don’t really care for doing raids that much anymore, a little older, with a lot more stuff with friends that also have a lot more stuff. So we’ve accepted that we can’t be raiders anymore, because there are other commitments that require us elsewhere at different times. Nothing wrong with that, we all can’t make a career out of gaming, or dedicate a 2+ hour long attempt in the afternoon or early evening. That being said, having played this game for so damn long, I’d like to do the final raid for the saga, and I agree, it should be more accessible in that space. The Solution could be Story mode, with gear drops that cap out at the 60 point mark. It doesn’t get in the way of contest mode and allows a wider array of players to dive into it. It also opens up a new path of progression, for people breaking into raids but need the training wheels. Who will then want to try it out on the harder setting. We’ve kind of got that with strikes, NF Strikes and GM strikes. *Shoulder shrug

Even though I know it won't happen, but wouldn't it be funny if the Final Shape's Raid turned into another Niobe Labs/Bergusia Forge incident? It would be the perfect ending to Bungie's constant desire to put the tryhards before the casuals blowing up in their face.

Edited by Entity: 9/5/2023 8:11:25 PMRoN had more day 1 clears than every raid day 1 combined lol, which shouldn't be the norm its its grossly an outlier, crota was an excellent example of how difficulty should be. It should just be accepted that day 1's isn't for everyone, but for the best of the best to earn, at the end of the day it's just a badge on raid report and an emblem, once contest mode is gone all uniqueness is thrown out the windo, guns and armor stay the same and nothing really shows the difference between people who put alot of their time in destiny to those who dont, trying to make an emblem more "accessible" is just a slap to the face to people who actually alot of time in perfecting skill, builds and technique. If anything there should be more unique in game rewards for those who do put in the effort. Ultimately complaining about a single emblem and a badge on raid report is insignificant and if you can't earn such a minor reward it shouldn't change the fact that you can earn literally everything in that raid that these so called 1% can earn. The line of difference becomes almost invisible besides a fancier raid report lol RoN was literally a handout and mislead people into thinking they could do day 1's, and difficulty that was experienced in crota should be the norm.
-
If the Final Shape raid is as easy as RoN, it's a massive failure. Luckily, that's not going to be the case. Not to mention they've heavily hinted that while the raid will be the climax, it's not going to be the resolution and there will be something after the raid to wrap the story, since many people either aren't good enough or just don't want to raid for whatever reason.
-
5 RepliesMy guy, it lasts two days. Are you really that selfish that you would take that away from the people it’s for? You get the raid forever. They get it for 48 hours. Get over it.
-
I completely disagree. I think the contest mode raid clears should be something that not all people can clear. We only get it once per year and everything else in this game has been watered down to be a super casual experience. Contest mode raids are better when they are more like Garden of Salvation or DSC > Root of Nightmare.
-
Just wait for contest to end then if you didnt like the contest difficulty this raid
-
Being higher skill to complete something is reasonable gatekeeping. That’s how games are supposed to be.
-
i hope its so difficult that no team can complete in during contest. That would be fun to watch.
-
1 ReplyThe difficulty of enemies and density of them was fine.. What wasn't fine is team coordination. The team needs to play together and do what needs to be don't to help each other.. Run well. Line 3 or 4 of them. Aeons. Ceno. And ur set. If you can't kill the enemies and do with damage with all the ways for heavy ammo and do mechanics at the same time it is what it is. Master mode will be basically the same difficulty.
-
2 RepliesI didn't think it was all that difficult.... People made it difficult however
-
I play the game here and there and really only come back for the day one raids, hell it’s almost the only reason I play at all anymore. Contest difficulty was perfect. Hopefully they keep this difficulty moving forward in the final shape. Not a streamer, I don’t play this game for a living.
