I really appreciate the difficulty level of normal Presage. It’s just a really chill mission to run repeatedly solo. Please leave it as it is. As a solo player there are very few activities I can play efficiently, and being able to slowly unlock weapon patterns through an achievable activity is very rewarding. Thanks for not making the mission a sweat fest.

I remember doing that one on release day solo and it just was so much fun, will have to do it again now they've brought it back since I always loved that mission

2 RepliesSo glad the community is discovering power creep lol. We've come a LONG way since that mission.

4 RepliesPity you don't get a choice of weapons. I have a good roll of DMT and never use it, so no point in doing the mission.

I re-entered it on Legend first (and succeded first try), and then did 2 sub 15-min runs back to back, all via LFG (i.e. not solo, buit also not with clan or using voice). Granted, my ability to remember mazes is unnatural, and I do frequently raid and run dungeons and GMs. I feel 0 need for this mission to get more difficult. Did it challenge me at all? Nope, even on Legend (although soloing it probably would). Am I ever going back to it, having fully unlocked DMT crafting? Also no; I have everything out of it. So why should I decide it needs to be gatekept out of the majority of the playerbase? As others have stated there are activities designed to challenge the no-lifers like me already, and honestly, I think Presage is one of the best missions ever released, so as many people as possible should play it. Some people on these forums forget that this isn't Dark Souls or Remnant; this is not a game where sweating is the baseline, and it should not become that.

Good post. Honestly thought this was going to be another posts asking to nerf hard mode, but kudos to you.

3 RepliesEdited by Phoenix1710: 8/29/2023 4:15:08 AMI feel the same way. Presage is one of my favorite missions. Not just because of the unique ambiance, but because of the difficulty. It's nice to have a chill experience with no need for a fireteam or meta loadouts. I wish more content was like it.

56 RepliesNeeds a buff... the difficulty is akin to patrol, yet it rewards a very nice exotic that's craftable. When yah cater to pushovers and people who just wanna have "fun" (bad player's who want rewards with almost no effort) it ruins the game. To easy and it's boring... to difficult and it's obnoxious. That mission is way too easy, geezus christ it's an insult to the gun and player's. There's no timer on normal so it might as well be harder

It’s brain dead easy. That’s wild

2 RepliesMe too and also Vox Obscura.

Yeah I haven't done it since reset but I'm surprised that it isn't crazy. We need a match made option for mid level content like Nightfalls and story missions at Legend difficulty. I've ran the weekly story mission on Neomuna probably 5 or 6 times. Each time the randoms and I will absolutely run thru those enemies but still can't hit that 100k. It's around 85k every time. I feel like if we could mm at Legend that pinnacle would be much easier to get for solos. Doesn't seem unreasonable to me.

100%. The difficulty is right we’re it needs to be. Basic version is strike to maybe heroic NF level. Don’t need to be worried about being perfectly optimal. Legend feels great. It’s harder and you actually need to pay attention and plan your encounters somewhat. We don’t need it to be a dungeon or a mini-GM, just challenging enough that you can’t waltz through it. (I am biased tho as I think I’m one of very few that genuinely love the scorn…)

3 RepliesI agree, it was fun. The NPCs aren’t exactly pushovers but also didn’t detract from the narrative bits either. Now I get that it’s different for everyone, depending on their dedication to the game. In any case for me it felt just right. There are only two other instances in Destiny where I felt like this: the initially solstice Red War missions and the Witch Queen legendary campaign. IMO, Destiny is at its best with moderately challenging NPCs and fully narrated missions. That’s where the game shines. PS: Yes I did do Presage back in the day, normal for the gun and the timed -blam!- for the catalyst.

1 ReplyYou've done it now. Joe will make the next exotic mission with every modifier going. Can't have any fun in the game after all.
-
It was a breeze doing it solo flawless.
-
It definitely used to be harder. Things have power crept a lot in the year and a half since it got vaulted, and now it’s a bit too easy imo. Just running Osteo is enough to beat the entire mission. No special or heavy needed.
-
Yeah, it's awesome.
-
hell presage even on legend isnt actually that much harder

I agree that our new abilities make a big difference, but they also removed the power level modifier for the activity, so it's pretty much just a strike now. For instance, in the past when boss' "basement oven" was turned on, you'd be dead in like 3 ticks. Now it's likely double that, you can hang out in there without much concern. That level of survivability, paired with the extra damage we get to do without a modifier really changes the experience. That said, I'm glad they've made it more accessible to newer players. If I was going to make any changes, it'd be give people a better reward-driven reason to run it on Legendary, as right now there's essentially almost no reason to.

nah it needs more tormentor cage matches
-
Agree perfect difficulty

2 Repliesu know its braindead easy when I can clear it with an auto rifle only lmao
-
Yeah, but that edge at the bottom of the chute into the trash compactor will still be the ultimate villain in this game. Instant death when you hit it and least expect it. I wonder how many flawless runs it has spoiled 🤔
-
I know that I could get a new DMT, but after flawless master mode I never want to touch this mission again.
