Extremely bad performance
I used to play at a constant 158 fps, intentionally set to match my monitors max refresh rate with a bit of leeway. I took a break during the solstice event and upon returning the game runs at 158 in the menu and in orbit, but as soon as I load into any area, even the helm, I'm running at most 40 fps, as low as 22 in populated areas. I've updated my drivers twice since then for other games but since there doesn't seem to be many threads about performance in general and only a vague mention of issues in the known bugs forum, I'm posting here to see if I can get some help or provide my dxdiag or something.
Any clues? Hardware isn't an issue, since I've played at 158fps, previously could handle 300fps with tearing and other games (bg3, ac6, bunch of older games) have no issues. Please help! Game is just about unplayable right now.

2 RepliesHello, Have you tried rolling back your drivers to an earlier version? In my (personal) experience, NVIDIA's (assuming you're using them since your hardware isnt stated) driver updates are always spotty for me. I almost never find updating them to the newer version to solve whatever display issue I have at the time. I often find myself reverting to an older version to fix any issue display related issues in game.

Check to make sure the game is still installed on your SSD, I just checked mine and it looks like steam decided to move it to my HDD for some reason when it updated to season of the witch... whats even more disturbing is that the game files were located on both drives but launching from the HDD and not the SSD. No idea why but it it is what it is. I'm back to 144fps.

Edited by 8bitSeahorse: 8/28/2023 4:18:28 AMop- same here, all my other games are great- witch queen played excellent, but with lightfall and season pf the witch iam getting 11fps, i just pre-purchased the expansion- iam having doubts may go for a refund. ive done a bit of research -it turns out bungie gone independent without activision they have no real pc support.
