Personally I'm not too upset about this, but I also think it could be considered an unethical practice that Bungie repeatedly stated that these items would be exclusive, and is now no longer honoring that after the fact (regardless of how you feel about this decision by Bungie, you have to acknowledge that misleading consumers is an unethical business practice).
But I'm glad Bungie announced this while I was contemplating if I wanted to purchase The Final Shape + Annual Pass or not (now I don't have to, after the fiasco that was Lightfall, this removed one of the last remaining incentives to do so - FOMO)

Who cares? This literally affects nobody negatively.

4 RepliesYou know? I used to put alot of emphasis on the season pass, but just falling out naturally due to repeated bad decisions, I've learned the season pass is easier to level than people think, easier than I thought. Though, I think I remember asking about this beginning of last season, but does it feel like this season pass is more work for the same stuff now? Anyway, Bungie has a problem with saying one thing and doing another. For some reason people accept this as fine and perfect with the law of the land, but don't accept it elsewhere, which is confusing as hell, but your point is valid. It is a bad faith business practice just on the principle of it, regardless of where the individual views stand. Get a season pass for $10, or buy the armor from the $10 pass for $20 later. Its a scam to me. Just manipulating money and convenience. I understand the need to make money, as it took time and resources to create, but business doesn't generally deal in losing money. If there isn't profit, its a no-go, especially with a business like Bungie, who struggles like they do. That $20 price tag is just a cash grab. It was sold for $10 in a pass that made them profit, and they raise it to $20 just to squeeze extra out of bad faith. Though what is pass price now? $12? I forget what it changed to as I haven't gotten one recently. Still less than $20 though. I just don't like the whole notion of leaning this hard into Eververse. The last gaming industry collapse happened because of exactly this crap, and Nintendo was the one who brought the industry back. We're literally repeating history here. Businesses purposely made arcades harder and harder to essentially scam people out of increasingly more money over time. They would nickel and dime them ( a manner of speaking. It was always quarters ) so people go "Oh its just another quarter, its no big deal" but they keep pumping them in to finish. Same process now, just nickel and dime the players. Convenience is great, but all too easy to completely abuse. The difference between then and now? Your home is the arcade because we have the internet. Its exactly like arcades, but on a bigger, global scale. Why are games getting harder? Some do demand it, but the majority don't. Its mostly business just trying to get one over on everyone, to make it harder so they pump in more money for easy access, or to finish what they started. This is just another way to overcharge people for something. That's on people buying though too, we suck at self-control as a whole. I just hope this isn't Bungie gearing up for a full-fledged dive into microtransactions and pay to win at some point. We're dangerously close, and people can argue that season pass is pay to win, since we're given immediate access to a new exotic weapon, but its really a gray area. If the armor is desired, just get the season pass. Yeah you now have to play more to get it, but you'll save money and get the same stuff, plus extra stuff, whether its needed or not. At some point it will be useful. Its significantly less than a $20 price tag for one suit that's only about like 3-5% of what you'd get in the pass for a lower price.

Edited by jr_0081: 8/27/2023 2:22:49 AMEven though I like the idea but I feel like it is a slap to the face for people who waste time getting the ornaments from the season pass and I think we should be able to progress pass season passes that we bought so it can be fair but I would like to have season undying and dawn armor because I never bought those seasons and the other seasons which I had bought, I never finished those until plunder, seraph, defiance, deep, and hopefully witch

So going forward do you want bungie to be more transparent about battle pass cosmetics?

9 RepliesWasn’t Season of the Chosen a couple years ago? So the items should never be available to anyone else?
