We really need a rework to Adaptive Munitions, or just remove it from any weapon roll in the future.

Don't use it if you don't like it. What's with all these posts that say, I don't like it, so remove it from the game? Everyone has something in the game that they don't like.
-
Rework or remove? Lol. How about no. It's still one of the better perks, even with no match game. Weapons with it do better damage against all shields compared to weapons without it. If you don't like it, just don't use it.
-
I like it.

1 ReplyAll they need to do is make it work in PvP, but flip It so it does extra damage against shields of matching energy type. Would be a cool anti-meta perk. Like on an arc sub machine gun right now to counter jug titans.

5 RepliesEdited by Gemini Trash: 8/22/2023 1:45:24 AM? Adaptive Munitions does up to 600% bonus damage on any shield that doesn't match your weapon's element. I've been using Come to Pass just for this perk to stun Anti-Barriers and it crushes them. Though I would say it should be slotted as a typical support trait perk not a damage trait perk. If I could pull an Auto with Adaptive Munitions and Target Lock I'd want for nothing

2 RepliesIt works against barriers and does 600% more after 3 hits.

Edited by neonsox42: 8/21/2023 10:38:39 PMI’d probably roll it in and combine it with Genesis. The 2 give complementary bonuses and both need good buffs.

This perk died when match game was removed

As good of a utility perk as it is, its only a late game utility perk. I think they should make it a bit more versatile and appealing (especially with how they've been designing stuff as of late) but at the cost of limiting drop sources. I.e must come from nightfall weapon, raid weapon, dungeon weapon, etc. And I really think this goes for a lot of weapons. I really wish rather than all the perks everywhere certain sources had weapons with a certain set of perk focuses and because of that certain perks had a little bit more room to excel and really show off because of the content they require you to interact with. Endgame stuff doesn't need to invalidate other gear but it really still needs to be a more consistently noticeable step up and not purely sandbox reliant. Also, genuinely can we please condense the perk pool and start merging some perks together? There's just too many and some step all over other perks. Once condensed, some more unique eprks that take two ideas and put them together would be nice. I also think this would finally force exotics to really be more exotic across the board. Even the powerful ones only feel like they have one thing going for them and at this point its kinda ehh feeling. Just really wish the gear was more defined and purpose/playstyle of various things had more breadth.

It's actually a bit of a sleeper perk on fusion rifles. Last time I checked the damage ramps up with each individual bolt, getting up to max with just one full burst if you're landing your shots. Not as useful as it was back when match game was a thing, but it is still pretty handy if you don't want to worry about matching element types in higher end pve. If you ever find a fusion with adaptive munitions and turnabout- keep it. Hidden gem roll that is not to be underestimated
-
Yup.. Maybe since its "adaptive" the Guns Element just changes based on your Subclass. Because my AM guns dont do crap to shields that dont match.
-
I was thinking about this the other day because I got a Randy’s with both Under Over and this. I agree it needs a buff, either a flat damage boost or to pop the opposing shields.
-
8 RepliesUnder-over and Adaptive Munitions are actually pretty good perks for GM's, I have a couple trace rifles that include Adaptive Munitions and it is noticeable but thats as much value as you'll get from the perk. Slight buffs would be nice and welcomed, i'd say.
-
There are some really good ideas in the comments. Pay attention Bungie.
-
It’s always been a mid perk and it’s even more useless now that Match Game got the axe. It either needs a complete rework or a trip to the trash can.
-
1 ReplyIt was a great perk that became the only casualty of the removal of Match Game. It would be pretty neat if it triggered the shield explosion regardless of element, but that might be encroaching on what little territory Hard Light and Borealis have.
-
1 ReplyI'd say it still has a place, especially in high level pve, and I believe it also works vs barrier champions. I think the only problem is there is too many perks that deal specifically with sheilds and oversheilds. I wouldn't mind if the perk caused mismatched shields to explode just like when you match elements and matching elements increased the explosion damage and AOE by 30%.
-
8 RepliesMake it so instead of slowly becoming stronger it's just a 50% buff against shielded enemies
-
Make it explode an AoE subclass effect based on the elemental shield
-
Yes. Should just be a base damage improvement on enemies with shields on, even after the shield pop.
