The commutation we got from Joe was welcome as always but I see didn't see any changes that'd result in lasting health for the game. 1 crucible map a year doesn't answer the underlying issues with Crucible, Gambit of course remains neglected, and the grind remains overbearing.
CRUCIBLE:
We'll begin with Crucible. You noted maps are crucible's largest issue, but at one map a year you will never catch up. Every single map in D2 in small and that's evident by how often you see players spawn directly in front of an enemy player.
GAMBIT:
Gambit still has annoying catch up mechanics that allows the losing team to harass the winning team so much so that there's a strat to let the enemy team pull Primeval first so you continue to get back to back Invades even when your Primeval is already out. Invading is too prevalent in Gambit.
THE GRIND:
The grind in D2 has gotten so bad that if a player were to ever step off the hamster wheel they could never do enough to catch up to the point of obtaining everything they aspired to obtain. I feel like all the people who complain about D2 not being grindy enough are either trying to actively sabotage the game or simply want no one to have a god roll anything through effort only blind luck.
Having that be the case where someone has an apparent edge over other players just because RNGesus shined upon them with odds so stacked against you from obtaining the same is irritating. I accept random rolls because it offers sandbox variety not because it pads out play time. However obtaining that roll should always be solvable through effort. There's no RNG bad luck protection that guarantees players that they'll eventually obtain a roll on their weapon. Redback is a solid example for me, I've received thousands of Redbacks and yet still to this day I've never obtained my 5/5 roll.

Even with all of that said I still don't see any effort to solve the years old Content Vault issue. This was an issue brought up back in 2020, so 3 years now, which incidentally was caused by 3 years of content packed into one file. So 3 years deep what's the plan? Are we vaulting content again? Is the Content Vault issue even on your radar currently? So many people are still peeved about the content they paid for being unavailable, and many overs are equally upset they can't even experience that content outside of a YouTube video. It would be great where Bungie's head space is at on that topic

Destiny 2 has always been stuck in a vicious cycle many people have pointed this out over the years but do you know how many people have listened and I mean truly listened, slim to none thats how many. Its gotten so bad that everyone has been on this topic of how bad bungie messed up lightfall even the people who don't play it. But do you know whats come of it, not a damn thing thats what. People are so easily willing to jump right back on the bandwagon and all it took was Joe making an apology video of sorts and making a bunch of promises that may not even happen to get people right back on board. Like my family always told me you can't convince people who are set in their ways to change their minds aka you can't fix stupid.

2 RepliesWhy so serious, fear of missing out, expectations pretty high, anxiety setting in, then the depression. Sounds like you need a break from the game I had to just because of the same things and I'm glad I did, you should try it.

7 RepliesLooks like a cycle of greed and it’s victims. If you can’t see this, you are beyond help. As the saying goes, there is one born every minute. Don’t be one! Welcome to hollowness! Bwahahahahahaha!!!

I could fix the game if I had the community behind me. I sounded many of the first rally calls against bungie that was snuffed out by the same community that just realized I was right. If you could lend an open ear I can highlight something’s that would get the game where it needs to be.

Edited by TheShadow: 8/19/2023 2:57:44 PMKnowing this business has only looked for ways to just use Band-aids instead of looking for actual solutions all these years. There isn't a damn thing they have to offer this game anymore. The last time they even offered anything in almost 7 years was Forsaken. What I'm about to say, is let it sink in for a moment because it should explain what's wrong with this entire business/game that the IP should have been handed over to a competent developer years ago. (D2 base game literally started out with a director that had no experience at all and had no business leading a sequel. The # one dumbest decision this business has ever made, and they have made a hell of a lot.). No, it's not an insult directed at Luke, I'm just stating a fact. That alone should have told everyone what was wrong with the people running this business. The damage done to the game was done way before it was even released and the game has been struggling to become anything other than a lame microtransaction BS game because this business is literally looking for anything to prevent it from becoming anything other than that. This greedy business is the actual problem with this entire game.

skipped the grind part cuz d2 have a grind so casual that is sad to call it even a lootershoter

You aren't wrong. I don't know if it's an annual cycle though. Maybe bi-annual.

Wah wah, we all need to care less

6 RepliesWhy do people still talk about crucible and gambit ? They've been ignored for years. Let's get better pve content.

It was a combo of a lazy way to balance the pinnacle weapons and giving them the ability to sell content to us multiple times

There will only be elements of FOMO depending on when you came back to the grind. Idk what aspirations you think people have, but getting something like an adept hothead (a simple FOMO example) isn’t make or break. I love the rocket, but like most weapons/loot, I really don’t need them. I barely played this season and felt like there was no progress to the meta before or after my hiatus. The only change was that time went by.

1 ReplyThe problem I have with the game right now is that they said they weren't increasing power levels so we didn't have to grind out levels, and yet I am 1809 and legendary activities are 1830, which means I do in fact have to sit here grinding out my artifact levels so that I am closer to 1830. Why didn't they just make every activity 1810 and have the enemies be +5 or +10 or whatever depending on the activity? The last thing I want to or will do is grind out pinnacles just to play some boring old activity.

Hey, that sounds exactly like Dest... Oh wait...

Yup. All started with the "Fever" the first time post Curse of Osiris, then happened once every year lol. It's textbook abuse
