I don't want to be pessimistic, but the free armor set kind of feels like they're just trying to appease the complainers. It's one free armor set. They're not increasing or changing the amount of armor we get in the future. They're literally just throwing us a bone before going back to charging money for the coolest armor again.
Loved the rest of the update, and I don't want to complain when some praise is earned. But this feels like misdirection and it kind of ticks me off.

1 ReplyYou can please some of the people all of the time. You can please all of the people some of the time. But you can’t please the Destiny forums community anytime. Fact of Life

If everyone has it and it's free then nobody values it and it is quickly forgotten.

1 ReplyI’m confused what armor set?

Another reason why people who are mostly happy with the game will remain happy and people who are mostly unhappy with the game will remain unhappy. Anyone who has been playing for years should know roughly what to expect from Destiny. There’ll be some tweaks here and there — some you’ll like and some you won’t. There’ll be some great content, some poor content, and lots of stuff that falls somewhere in between. There was nothing dramatic in either the SOTG, or Joe Blackburn’s video. The drama comes from certain sections of the community — streamers trying to make a buck, players playing the wrong game and jilted ex players unable to move on.

3 RepliesWe trusted them, they spit in our faces and continued to do so for years after. It's gonna take a lot more than a few words and one free armor set to fix that.

11 RepliesUpset about free armor lol

1 ReplyThis forum will whine no matter what lol. Good thing it's just 0.001 percent of the playerbase.

It does, it's a free armour set.
-
It will likely be a set no one would spend bright dust on anyway let alone silver. I expect it to be a bland set. Maybe I'll be surprised. But in 9 years of destiny ...doubt it

If will for the bungie bootlickers

6 RepliesThe whole thing was preemptive damage control. He states the Showcase was made a month ago, after which they then released State of the Game which was not received well at all. They’ve realised after all the backlash, that the Showcase is only going to add further fuel to the fire and is not going to answer anything that the community wants answered. This Joe thing is just a way to get in some good PR so when the Showcase under delivers, as per Bungie policy, they’re hoping this false act of good will might keep everyone in check…and I bet it does. They are experts in manipulation.

1 ReplyBut we were going to sell it for SILVER. That’s generous ammirite? LMAO
-
7 RepliesI don't want to point this out on every post about Joe's response, but Bungie literally does this every time they need to sell something. I quit playing D1 for a lot of it's main life cycle, so I wasn't around for Bungie's BS then, but I've been up to date on D2 since launch and before Joe, it was Luke making similar "we missed the mark" addresses.

23 RepliesIf one free armour set doesn't change anything, then why are people so upset about the idea of Bungie not making a free armour set? As was originally mentioned in the SOTG, no one uses the playlist sets for their stats and very few use them for their appearance, so there is reason behind not making it.

Personally, I think the last time Eververse actually had good looking armor was WAY back when they released the Empyrean Cartographer armor in Season I don’t even remember 😂 My Titans current look is the seasonal armor from Daddy-14’s season and the Second Chance exotic (which I would HIGHLY recommend now btw)

3 RepliesCan we normalize including context in what otherwise sounds batsh!t-crazy nonsense? Also, can someone explain wtf this person is on about?

One free armor set does not change anything, Joe
Kylo Ren: MORE!!!!

Eh, it doesn't matter to me. Most eververse sers have been extraordinarily mid.

Looking at all the simps praising Joe for his heroic endeavour.

2 RepliesThey've already done this once before, stating the same reasons for doing so, yet it's happening again.

It’s not a step backwards, and doesn’t feel like it’s meant as a cover up

Now all youtubers will be buzzing around bungie and specially their new dlc after 3month same old new bungie won't do anything
-
I said this on another post
I agree this is a step in the right direction. But, this is not nearly enough to undo all they have done. Actions speak louder than words, and talk is cheap. Even for me though, he didn’t not address all the issues in the game like the state of the game should have, and mainly just focused on the points of the SoTG and fixing those, which is far from all that’s needed to save the game
3 RepliesI’m curious to see the set. Like if it doesn’t look on par with previous Eververse sets we will know right away if they just made an art director throw one together real quick or if it was legit meant for Eververse.
