I have been playing Destiny since day 1 vanilla back in 2014. The game was new, fresh, and there was this great air of mystery and intrigue in the universe created. It was rewarding, but not perfect. However, in the last few years, I have seen the steady decline of both Bungie and Destiny--it all stems from one symptom, which, sadly, I believe has become endemic within the AAA development community: avarice. Giving as little content as possible for as much money as possible.
I used to work for Blizzard, and I was a Game Master for the launch of Battle for Azaroth. This was during the time period of the Activision acquisition, and when Bungie was using the Blizzard Launcher. I was doing tech support for the launch of Forsaken. The greed and shady practices I experience at Blizzard, and their complete disregard for their playerbase, which is incredibly shameful, is now becoming more and more apparent with Bungie.
They make excuse after excuse, acting like we do not know how game development works, yet constantly removing content in order to "price-gate" it within Eververse. No more ritual armor, yet constantly releasing new "cosmetic" armor within the microtransaction store. This is what happened within Blizzard, and I noticed the patterns back then while working for that...less than amicable company.
Based on these patterns, I fear that the avarice within Bungie will simply begin to grow: removal of core activities and adding more content that is price-gated. They will stretch content out to keep the player count high, which is all they care about at this point aside from how much money they can force out of the players.
I am tired of it all. Bungie has the potential to create amazing stories, as we saw with Halo and expansions in the past; they can give us a game worth playing, but I fear that Destiny is no longer that game.
9 years of playing this game, suffering through content droughts, hearing all the excuses from Bungie--I have had enough. I made the decision to delete Destiny 2, as it has become a waste of both my time and money. If a company cannot respect its customer base, only care about hitting certain quotas, then that company is not worth your time. They will milk you for every penny you have, and give the mere mention of food in kind.
Destiny used to be a good game, full of potential, intrigue, and a desire to investigate it. It no longer is, and the intelligence of the game has rapidly declined. They act as though we do not know what we want, but I believe that we can all agree on this one point: we desire quality in the games we invest our time in.

This. Game. Is. 10. Years. Old.

If you have been here since day one, you should know how many times posts similar to this have been on these forums. Regardless of what anyone may think the state of Destiny is, there is no other game like it, and they have a steady fan base to remain relevant. Destiny will die off when bungie decides to stop pushing out DLCs.

This game sucks, Bungie sucks

4 RepliesDestiny literally in its best state ever, loads of content that is replayable and weapon crafting adds a lot of fun and a reason to replay activities.

Who would have thought that Oblivion’s Horse Armor Pack for $2.50 would eventually lead to this? It seemed like such a little thing at the time…

It was bound to happen sooner or later, nothing lasts forever.
