Just a TLDR: A rant explaining one of many issues of unfair enemy advantages. It is obviously not limited to the lucent moths; however, they are the example I'm using.
Normally, I'd be fine with the lightbearer hive having an extra overshield like we do, but we don't get any OP explosion for losing our shield that acts like a seeking rocket that insta-kills rank & file or elites. It was cool for the first campaign missions, but seeing as these shields aren't even limited to lightbearing hive AND they send kamikaze seekers that almost instantly kill you, that is plain unfair. Having a stronger enemy than the player is normal, but it's a problem when it becomes an unorthodox slog of a battle.
I love most of the challenges D2 has, but this is taking advantage of a distracted player using an explosive the size of a tiny insect that flies at the same speed a player SPRINTS and has the radius of a rocket. I'm tired of dying to creatures that I can't see or accurately shoot until it's too late or zoom in from a mile away. Plus, they act like axions with triple the strength, radius, and velocity.
I know I can shoot them, and in some cases it's fine, but most cases it isn't. Most of the time, they are attached to a random hive that isn't even a guardian. Only after you break the shield (albeit a weak shield) it appears. To add to the issue, most AI in this game is completely brain-dead and love to melee you when they have guns. I wouldn't be so mad about it if the moths were few in number, but every group of lucent hive have MINIMUM 3 of them per group. Having to manage the enemies, myself, my footing, and my surroundings at all times is hard enough in more challenging content.
It is clear this game isn't made for fun anymore, and that needs to be changed. Stop going for maximum money when you're already making a f**king enormous profit using your predatorial business model. You're ruining the game with bullshit like this.

When I saw the boss’ moth summoning attack, I could feel my ghost getting ready to res me. Just desperately spraying my reconstruction auto. And those darker blue ones, Oo. A giant lucent moth boss would suffice

They don’t need any immunity frames. That’s my input without reading this long checklist or what not.
-
Skill issue. Just shoot them before they get close.
-
You clearly ignore them if its this big of a deal. Just kill them the moment they hover.

3 RepliesWere you not around for the Mini screebs that could travel underground or along the edges of a platform to surprise frag you? These moths are nothing

No way. It's so funny blowing up your friends in a GM by shooting them when they're slowed and can't move fast enough to get away from them. It's almost as funny as dying on purpose after both your friends run out in the open like freakin Rambo and get blown to pieces in less than a second. For the 15th time...

Shoot them ...they are bright and make noise .....
-
You're just bad
-
They could be toned down in some areas I suppose but overall, I disagree.
-
They just need a larger hit box, and they should be able to jump to more than 2 adds. It's dumb when the same moth buffs 5+ combatans. Also when they ignite and chase you, they should have a time limit before exploding. I shouldn't have the same moth chase me for 30+ seconds.

Just don’t die. It’s a skill issues.

I suggest buying a lamp off of Eris on the Moon. It uses special ammo but I hear it's very effective.

Originally those moth's only did 30 percent damage which is why they tended to be found in packs of 3, if you were unlucky your health would drop to 10 percent. But thanks to Lightfall update they got a serious dps buff, if defense was below 70 they pretty much insta-kill.
-
Just shoot them lol.
-
Or try shooting them instead of expecting to be able to brute force and run through them.

Turn off Taylor Swift and turn on sound effects. While you're at it, get rid of the sword. Now you're ready for moths
