The 2nd lowest population per accessible records.... on Steam.
Except... it's only about 6% off the average concurrence, which is extremely healthy despite the negative PR and hate baiting of topics like many you'll see on these forums.
I think the PvP creator exodus might be good in the long term respective PvP here's why:
Bungie can't make changes in PvP unless it appeases the PvP content creators. These people often play PvP for a living and are typically in the top 1% of players or above.
And that's the crux of the issue... spoiling the grain for the colony while the "elite" eat cake.
Let's break down the cadence of actions and be honest about reality:
Most PvP content creators don't make content for the 1%, otherwise they wouldn't make any money. However, they regularly gaslight their viewership to encourage those delusions... but often, at the same time, create very little guide content respective PvP... I think Lucky has protested more PvE strat & guide vids than any guides for PvP. I'm sure of it actually.
Sure, they may reflect on or promote meta weapons and loadouts, but very few... if any, actually engage in trying to teach their audience to improve. Why? Because they don't want more skillful players... because content that 'actually' caters to PvP tryhards makes no money.
Most PvP content is vicarious fantasy... or gaslighting their viewership.
Unless, it impacts the ability to do their job... & makes those gaslighting & fantasy videos harder to make. When PvP gets changes that makes it better for everyone the fringes typically will take some hits. Meaning lobby times for higher skilled players increase & their games get more difficult.
For content creators that means their job gets harder, more waiting to get matches... more stress in playing higher skilled lobbies & and significantly longer production times, possibly requiring more production resources: Less output & content that requires more effort.
And these changes are often iterative, might require multiple passes... but Bungie can never get there. Because the moment... changes are even hinted at, that WILL make their jobs harder... they revolt. They use their casual audience of inflated egos... convincing them that these changes will make...
!!!EVERYONE'S experience WORSE!!!
And they make video... after video... after video. Transferring their limited 1% perspective onto their 99% audience. All it takes is those players to have 1 bad game where their ills seemingly reflect the refrains and complaints of their favorite PvP content creator and they're 100% convinced.
There are players on these forums and throughout the community that actively work against THEIR best interest but for the LIMITED motivations for people like their favorite content creators. Literally advocating for changes that WILL make their experience worse....
They manipulate and have conditioned their viewers to work against their best interests and subsidize theirs. Whether it is done consciously... makes no difference. The results speak for themselves. Time for that to end, and I believe Bungie has finally decided to swallow that bitter pill.
This ISN'T an "Aim" skill based competitive game. Never has been. It's time to stop pretending. Create PvP modes and systems for matchmaking that reflect that. And everyone working against that future CAN go.
Those are my thoughts. Finally, we always get the, " There's no Eggs without Tryhard Chickens" argument... being why create changes that benefit the 99% when they don't play PvP? Given what I said... do you see how ridiculous that argument IS? How will you ever know? How could you... If PvP NEEDS to cater to those 1% tryhards?
You can't. And we never give Bungie the space to make those comprehensive changes before PvP content creators start inciting their mobs of delusional casuals.
So, with that, I think the exodus could be a good thing. Stay the course Bungie... let them go; for a better game in the future.
I don't give personal details, but this is coming from an old competitive gamer. Not FPS... fighting games. You can't build your PvP that HAS NO AIM SKILL around people that pretend like there IS.
Finally... finally; I'm not saying this game couldn't be competitive... just NOT for AIM SKILL. Let people use all the mods in PvP... embrace ability spam, and let Destiny PvP become:
MvC..."Marvel vs Capcom"... respective competitive FPS. I love Gambit, I'm one of the best solo players in the world... you can use most mods, it seems like dedicated PvP could handle that change.
To start, just see what happens... Let all the mods work everywhere basically the same. And I'm not saying you would never balance specifically for PvP... however, you wouldn't do it for people that still believe shooting a HC or Sniper requires "Aim Skill".
We're not going backwards... make Destiny the MvC of competitive FPS.
Those are my thoughts and perspective. These PvP content creators (except Sir D who is an exception) are NOT leaving to go play CS, or Valorant, or Tarkov... either. I do like a some of these people, but most are frauds respective actual FPS aim skill. I'll eat my words... let me know when TV, Cross, Fallout? How about Panda or Wallah... actually places or does anything of note in an Aim Skill FPS game like Valorant or CS:GO... or Dead Drop... give me an example that isn't Sir D.
I'm not bashing anyone of those guys, I watch 'em all. I'm just sayin it how it is. Wallah edits out every death in his vids. And he's one of my favorites to watch... because he kinda plays the game like a MvC FPS.
