For when destiny was exciting and felt fresh? I was playing PvP yesterday and it hit me. This game is really at the end. It’s a bummer. The tight lipped approach by Bungie just makes it all worse. They hold this false mystique about content but it’s so plainly evident that they’re done. Some great memories with some lifelong friends made through this game. Like beating Skolas for the first time with dudes from Australia I always played with (I’m east coast US) We were so hyped. Or getting up early Tuesday morning before work to do nightfalls at reset, then hopping on right after getting home to run three characters through crota/VOG. Loved my vision of confluence and pocket infinity! Anyhoo. Taint got any more friends on this game. Just thought I’d be a softy for a moment to other fellow guardians. Be well homies. 🙏❤️

Early D1 was something different You would get random fireteam invite to go do your nightfall I met my 1st clan trough someone I randomly met in a NF recommending me because they were in need of a 6th ...was my 1st vog run I remember seeing a solar war lock for the 1st time and immediately start 1 of my own immediately after

That feeling fades away for everyone over time. Then we look back at past games with rose tinted glasses.

1 ReplyEdited by Guardian, Archon Of Light: 7/23/2023 11:15:09 PMThe world was bigger in D1 I remember how magical and mysterious the game felt during the beta Then we get to D2 and it's a fast food joint now

Just before reset…loot the gorgon boxes…regular crew swapping characters x3 to hold c/p and loot to the max; come reset - get the blue flambé hairdo buff, then go do the strike and NF, then off to the crucible if still awake! Then they stole my ToM…then came ‘sunsetting’…then i quietly went away and became a Tenno (MR24)…then, I watched some old vids my (then young) son made…and on a wave of nostalgia, I quietly returned to Destiny…but this time, it was different… I only do simple vanilla stuff and don’t bother with the enhanced difficulty and ludicrous RNG / mediocre rewards stuff. Rinse / reskin / repeats - black hammer, are beyond a joke. I watched a buddy run upwards of 70+ runs for EoT…and when he finally got it, he left Destiny. I joined for a few c/p runs, got a decent heavy MG…but after so many fruitless runs (<20 +/-) I stopped bothering. I’ve got nearly all the ‘must have’ toys…sitting in my vault. Occasionally, I’ll do a quest or guild a title, but, I absolutely won’t do stupid stuff for another reskin or ridiculous RNG-gated item, eg, that glaive…that fishing scout…I didn’t mind the fishing (WF did it better, imho) but when I got the third exotic fish and saw what came next - forget it! Timers and me don’t work. Now, i barely engage with anything beyond pootling about enjoying the simple stuff…marking time for the last chapter, to end my ten-year compact…and bounce forever…maybe back to my overflowing vault of greatness in D1…maybe… Cheers! 🫡

I really wish D1 was on steam. At times I loved hopping on the PS4 and playing some of the old strikes.

Yeee I remember the summer 2016 times or when a certain song plays it reminds me of grinding during Rise of Iron

1 ReplyAll the time, it's usually when certain orbit songs play.

“Forever 29.”

If they don’t have anything really good, not much to talk about to be honest. I’d rather them not say they’re working on X and Y only to hear that it won’t be ready any time soon. That -blam!- got old.

5 RepliesAny game running for 6-7 years is bound to get stale at some point, I'd imagine.

Yes there has been some good memories. My best Crota not disappearing at the end and the team standing on him like big game hunters or getting Fatebringer first time through VOG, no on spoke to me for ages!

Getting legendary engrams was a good feeling and visiting xur was cool.

I knew they were done when they announced that Activision was leaving and it was so easy to see because of the work they have been producing since then that has been mediocre at best. Personally, I'm glad it's done, this business literally destroyed this game's potential the day D2 was released for the sake of a buck, and their greed got out of control, more so these last 4 years, and you fans were blaming Activision for everything all those years 🤦♂️ The huge difference here is, back in D1 there were devs that actually had a say/pull that cared enough to at least try to put effort into D1 considering how bad this business screwed things up, and boy did they majorly screw up D2 throwing everything that was good about Destiny out the window. Destiny had a chance to become something more than just another stupid cash grab. Marty and Staten knew this but like everyone that works for this greedy business, their hands were tied.

4 RepliesEdited by Olórin: 7/22/2023 9:35:11 PMDone a couple Dares today for the first time since ever and noticed the old school D1 Horn theme during the Vex Boss encounter. Cant lie it made me smile remembering that theme along with the memories it came with - finishing work and sitting on the airport bus going to the staff carpark and getting a message from one of the boys to do the VoG raid, hopped in my car and raced back home just to fail on Oracles lol But as soon as Dares was over there wasn't much else for me to do in the game so i just came off. Would've played Trials but i dont fancy enraging and i think theres a bug on the Flawless weapon not dropping... So bleh.

1 ReplyEdited by Roach: 7/22/2023 4:54:29 PMNot for Destiny. No chance. I stopped playing and just like watching people bending themselves into human pretzels because a) they are crying for a game that will never exist because Bungie have zero interest in making it .. or b) they are so addicted to the game they line up to defend the indefensible. Destiny, to me, is like my ex wife. When I first started seeing her it was exciting, new and I was looking forward to spending a lot of time with her. Now she is just a pale imitation of what she used to be and she keeps trying to get me to give her all my money. And, just like the game over the years, she has also doubled in size.

2 RepliesEdited by The2ndWave: 7/22/2023 3:05:45 PMThese guys forgot that D1 was a success even though it wasn’t perfect. D1 was great because the concept was originally designed by one of the OG staff who no longer works for them now, long gone. The music in D1 was also epic because of Marty, who also no longer works for them, long gone as well. D1 was great, but remember that the original game was massacred and chopped-up into pieces. We will never know how good it really was because we are no longer playing that game, and maybe will never experience what it was at all. And the guys who chopped it up are not the original crew who started it. It was a duct-tape job.🤣 Nevertheless, D1 came out great despite of its imperfections. D1 has its flaws, but the formula was there. In my books, it was a success. But they ruined that formula again when they made D2. Guess who’s in-charge of that mess?🤣 I have a saying that if something is not broken, don’t fix it. You can improve on it, but you shouldn’t mess with it and change it completely. Welp, they screwed it up and made D2 completely different. Again, guess who’s in-charge of that mess?🤣 Now they’ve reverted everything back to D1 specs but it will never be like D1 anymore. The magic is long gone. The OG crew are long gone. The main investor and publisher Activision long gone and dumped this mess into the trash. Even millions of gamers are long gone and never came back. It was a mess. Guess who’s in-charge in all of that at the time?🤣 When Activision threw this game in the trash, that was the final straw for me. The game became lame and barren. Just so bare and devoid of any creativity at all. I left and threw it in the trash as well. Guess who was in-charge at that time?🤣 If we talk about nostalgia over this game, I say it’s all just history now. The OG crew who conceptualized and made the game are long gone. The music composer is long gone. The original investor and publisher long gone. And majority of the gamers also long gone. Even Deej is long gone! This is a different company now from what it used to be. I don’t trust them anymore after what they did here. I am not supporting them at all and won’t buy any future products from them anymore. Absolutely nothing here but a shamble mess of shallowness!🤣

1 ReplyFor sure. It's funny, I miss the times of farming planetary mats and glimmer, that was more interesting than any of the seasonal activities, and actually felt like you were making progress. I miss the old art style and lighting. The time before armor sets that looked like a gamer PC that is marching in a pride parade. Guns that didn't sound like a stapler. So many quality of life options like glass needles that we've just abandoned... The worst part of nostalgia like this is that even when you try to go back and play D1, it's just not the same. It's like a constant itch that can't be scratched.

5 RepliesI remember the feeling of getting an exotic... Being excited about it, now... i have a postmaster full and an inventory full of exotics. The hype is not there anymore.

4 RepliesI haven't felt nostalgic for anything since the accident.

Uh... you can still hit the nightfall before work, then hit Root/King's Fall/Vow/VoG/DSC/GoS/LW... any combo you like... after work... cap the night off with a Grasp, Ghosts, Duality, Spire... more raids more strikes more powers more exotics... somehow "worse?" That's all we were begging for in d1

1 ReplyReset day was a thing of beauty in D1

Was watching Datto first play D2 on YouTube, and they were getting excited over the servitor public event lol. I want to feel that again. Wouldn’t be opposed to starting fresh with a D3
