I know this has been going on for a while, but it’s starting to get to a point I am getting legitimately concerned about it. TL:DR We are paying several times more for the same amount of content compared to the past. In other words: shrinkflation in terms of content.
The game’s monetization has become more and more egregious that it is getting to a point that features we used to get are getting paywalled to oblivion. Single shaders are now too expensive, despite how good they look. Ten dollars is too much for just a shader to justify a purchase, barring the fact that an ornament and ghost projection (that few actually care about) are included.

1 ReplyEdited by Morakx: 7/22/2023 8:49:15 AMThe corec ommunity apparently doesn't care sadly. They have nothing going on in their life and just keep throwing their credit card at the screen. Numbers speak for itself. Their profit is at an all time high while their effort is at an abysmal low. Players need to wake up and speak with their wallets and lifetime.

Bump.

Getting...lol. You're extremely late to the party little guy.

If you don't like Bungie's business practices or the state of the game - You need to provide them with the only feedback gaming corporations understand - Money, player play time, & player population numbers. The only time this community influenced Bungie to revert bad decisions made to this franchise that Bungie was stubbornly opposed to changing was back in vanilla D2/CoO. And that only happened 100% because game purchases & Ev purchases tanked, player play time tanked, & player population numbers tanked to the point that Bungie almost had to close up the studio.

1 ReplyAs a player who dipped out of d2 for a while, I recently come back and can say that I have noticed that Bungie is certainly upping the money grabbing game and then some. Ultimately, if we don't like it then don't pay and eventually they will learn we won't stand for this. Unfortunately, too many people just fork over the cash and as such they won't change.

2 RepliesEdited by Cal O'Mari: 7/20/2023 8:56:08 PMWe are, if we purchase it. But it is being egregiously abused by Bungie. Maybe if they were better with their money, like cut back on pointless physical merchandise that costs insane amounts of money, and if they put the sales funds back into Destiny 2, we wouldn't have this microtransaction abomination. Running a company is no easy chore. I'd say its one of the most difficult, stressful things out there, but its alot easier if those in charge are smart with the finances. These people are like a 10 year old who got $50. Its ridiculous. No surprise they struggle so badly. I don't doubt the microtransaction hell is needed to an extent because they severely overextend themselves in every conceivable way it seems, and make poor decisions like funneling everything into Marathon while allowing the currently running game to become pretty much defunct. At least basic mechanics are still working mostly, for now. It feels like bad decisions are almost a diehard hobby for Bungie oversight. To me, clearly its run by people unqualified for the position they're in, but I also accept the disagreement side of that because, look at how consistent the bad decisions have been, but they're still going strong, so one can logically argue they're doing something right, but I just personally see alot more negatives there.

You don't have to buy anything. The people who spend their money are allowed to spend it however they want to. I would never personally buy an event card, but that doesn't mean other people aren't allowed to.

8 RepliesAnd one thing STILL hasn't changed the entire time. You DO NOT need the cosmetics.

Buy dlc, have to buy season because season is pay to win, have to buy $20 key because is pay to win. Oh you only got the standard edition dlc.... Nah nah nah you can't have that S-tier gun that only came with the mega super ultra big boy collection for an additional $50. Yes people payed for a noob stomper. All the good it did when a month later the immortal ate it's a$$.

16 RepliesWho here remembers waaaaaay back in on D1 when some parts of the playerbase said Eververse was a bad idea and a slippery slope? I remember.

1 ReplyEdited by TheShadow: 7/19/2023 10:49:26 PM
Your monetization strategies are getting out of hand
No, it has been out of hand for quite some time now. Too bad they don't even try to put as much effort into the game to at least create a quality game vs all the stupid crap in gaming they do to make a profit. They might as well rip the loot system out of the game and put it all in the shop because that is what they have been aiming for seeing how 99.99% of the loot in this game is literally junk loot.

1 ReplyBoycott the dungeons, seasonals and seasons if you don't have the pass. Bungo only listens to money.

3 RepliesEdited by Meatbaag: 7/20/2023 9:52:01 PMI think it's gaming in general now. In-game stores have been on the rise for the better part of a decade now and a seasonal model means refreshing these stores more often for more -blam!- and increasing player game time. Typically some items can be earnt by in-game challenges and that's where Destiny is falling behind, a lot of items are locked behind silver or real world money, very few desirable items become available from completing challenges or with bright dust. Edit: The censored word in my comment is P R O F I T.... why is that censored?

4 RepliesEdited by Gemini Trash: 7/20/2023 3:19:37 AMHonestly I wouldn't mind as much if Bungie wasn't making efforts to remove the grind methods to get cosmetics. I bet some of you don't even remember these so I'll run a couple by you. 1.) Bright Engrams had a knock out system like Exotic Engrams, and when you got everything the engram offered you'd just earn Bright Dust instead. 2.) Eververse Bounty Notes used to be available at Eververse that'd give you 150-500 Bright Dust 3.) Boons for the Vanguard, Crucible and Gambit activities existed. You'd buy a Boon from Eververse and after completing the associated activity you'd get a gift with Eververse items and materials 4.)Fireteam Medallions used to be a thing. They offered a 10% XP increase, and they'd stack up to three times. This allowed you to rank up quicker so you could get your next Bright Engram 5.) You used to get a Bright Engram every single time you ranked up 6.) Ritual Playlist Vendors used to give you 1,500 Bright Dust for completing their 8 weekly bounties. Now it's only 120 Bright Dust. 7.) Amanda Holiday used to exchange Eververse transmat effects with a knock out list. If you had 5 Rare (blue) transmat effects in your inventory you could turn them in at Amanda Holiday to get one Legendary transmat effect that you currently did not own. Event transmat effects were an exception, you had to play the event for those. I offered 7 examples because Bungie. Yeah though, Bungie used to be significantly more generous. With these in place I at one point had over 50,000 Bright Dust

Honestly I’ve stopped buying stuff mainly because for 1 they overprice everything and it’s not worth the prices they are asking for which is intentional because they know someone will pay for it just not me
-
They need to ramp it up so you addicts can buy more stuff.
-
Stop buying it and e-vers will go away!

1 ReplyThe only time you get to actually see other players cosmetics is when you’re loading into pvp.. I don’t see the point of buying anything cosmetic unless bungie adds a catwalk for people wanting to show how much money they have spent. 🙄

You are like over a year late, bro.

It's been that way for a while now. If you're going to play you pretty much have to buy the deluxe edition.

Getting out of hand? The monetization has been out of hand for years now.
