*CORRECTION: I agree Shadowkeep was the worst expansion.
Note: I don't understand why people are saying that I am at fault for expecting Bungie to deliver AT LEAST the same quality as last season.
This is season is the worst one I have played so far and I have been playing since Shadowkeep season of Arrivals.
Its a MAJOR disapointment!
Things I thought we would get:
- REAL ANSWERS about the veil
- Underwater combat
- More challenging enemy compositions
- getting back a new planet
What I actually got:
- a season that is riding the coat tails of The Litttle Mermaid and Avatar way of water
- wasting time fishing doing timed button presses over and over.... (the epitome of gaming missery)
- Sonic the hedgehog style underwater where it just all sucks, there is nothing fun about under water
- collecting psychc fecal matter so a whale can tell me a story that really belongs in the main expansion instead of a lackluster season.
Everything in this season is bad, there are NO redeaming qualities in this season (other than the dungeon, but you need a key for that)
We don't even get Titan back as an explorable planet! So much oppertunity lost.
This is corporate negligence, and it should be punished if is not rectified. Fix this game Bungie, fix it now or you will lose your biggest promoters: Your invested player base. Cause I don't see how anyone would want to stick around for this train wreck. Already teasing Final Shape to keep people hooked? I don't know if it can hold. Too much trust has been broken with Lightfall and now this.
To all my fellow gaurdians.... be wise at Eververse

I'd take Shadowkeep over Lightfall any day

5 RepliesIt is summer. Finals, summer break, graduations and end of the year parties. It is the best time to unload a chill season. Many players and workers appreciate bungie didn't unload a heavy season around this time. To those of you who don't have lives. It's just a few short weeks.

1 ReplyEdited by Sunburn Seastar: 7/8/2023 10:07:46 PMI disagree defiance was 100% worse, the writing for this season is far from ideal but it was wedding cake compared to the slightly warmed cake batter that was defiance. As for the content it was rather impressive for content that was just produced for a season, I can’t recall another season that changed the genuine movement physics. I understand your qualms with the underwater combat but to be fair the vast majority weapons that use bullets can’t fire underwater, so that leaves bows, trace, fusion and swords only being useable and their depending on their inherent element (bows would have significantly reduced range). I agree the pace of the season was sluggish and thusly diluted the story and quality of writing, but we got a significant amount information (comparatively to what lightfall and Defiance gave us).
Things I thought we would get: - REAL ANSWERS about the veil - Underwater combat - More challenging enemy compositions - getting back a new planet
Literally none of that was promised to you, & how do you get back a new planet?

Bungie sucks

3 RepliesEdited by Chrytor-6: 7/7/2023 3:16:16 AMThe amount of apologists here on the forums is astounding. Any real fan of this game would criticize the hell out of the poor decisions Bungie has been making as of recent. The fact that we as a community have accepted that we won’t get any Forsaken level DLC’s going forward is just… wow. We’re really just gonna settle for less? Bungie being an independent developer is an excuse that can only go so far when you learn that they’ve made BANK through eververse since Activision’s departure, and made a ton of money via Sony.

Somebody didn't play during CoO
-
Bungie have sony's money now, they've got their feet up smoking cigars and howling with laughter at the player base

The only problem is the missing opening cut scene that shows your character being woken up after a long sleep, (like always seems to happen to Link from Zelda), and finding out that somehow you're back in the lifeless city of HALO ODST (New Mombasa), which has since been renamed after some ancient Hawaiian surfer god Neomuna. Fittingly, it is now run by some body builder surfer dude (Nimbicle) who likes to just sit on his board and hang at his computer desk watching youtube vids in some tower while guardians protect the city to make it safe for nobody of consequence. Well, other than the occasional photon beings you run across which serve their purpose as street lamps. Its not so bad, on your days off you get to fish the toxic waters of Nessus.

27 RepliesEdited by TheShadow: 7/5/2023 2:55:23 PMYou guys should have been paying attention to the red flags because this business was literally waving them in your face for years now. This is on you for buying into this business HogWash. Just like me, many others knew better than to buy anything from this business, especially after WQ. Now that Activation is gone, let's milk them by dragging out our cheap lazy content for the next 4 years as long as we can looking for the dumbest things in gaming to drag it out instead of being a developer and designing quality content.
#1, Never pre-order especially from a business that barely offers anything, only using hype. 2, The biggest mistake players make in gaming is only paying attention to a business's "words", and not their actions that have shown them doing otherwise, using their words to bait players. An example, a lot of you were all excited that it took them 9 years to do something with the blues flooding the postmaster but didn't pay attention that when this business does anything to "improve the game" there is always a catch. Not only did they take 9 years of feedback about the blues to use as bait, but they also took 9 years of feedback to make a profit off of it. Deliberately making the campaign annoying in hopes most would buy the "skip the campaign" profit with the other 2 characters because they were thinking about the "best interest of the players/game". https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/262264578
We've just created a new account here to enable us to post here on the forums more
This^ was 6 months ago and just before they needed to sell LF. The "we are going to do this or that" but twisting their words so they don't have to follow through with them seems to be the norm with this business. 3, F.O.M.O This is an issue with players these days, not for everyone, but it's bait that a lot fall for, and the funny thing about it is, what is there really to "miss out on" when a business doesn't really offer anything?
They have 2 more seasons to make it worse. Don't worry.

Edited by RicJangles: 7/6/2023 6:00:57 PMi wont read your holy bible, but godda— i still cant get over how dogshit the writing was for lightfall. even the smeagol game, in all its jank, offered up a more thought provoking story than whatever the hell that was.

12 RepliesEdited by xbroggiex: 7/6/2023 2:13:24 PMIt goes even beyond that. 99% of the legendary weapons this season are just reissues or reskinned weapons. Reckoning guns hardly had any changes made to them stat wise yet Bungie basically locks them behind buying the season otherwise you realistically can't obtain them. All three of the seasonal activities are equally worthless as they don't provide rewards that are meaningful and all provide the same rewards. No real source of ascendant alloy outside of legend salvage if they drop, but what Legend Salvag does wrong is that the same encounters play out every time the same way until weekly reset. (What is the point in designing an activity to have multiple variants and encounters if the hardest mode doesn't randomly change it up each time?) The dungeon isn't even part of the season since Bungie charges for it separately and even Ghosts of the Deep is pretty bad. Dungeon boss health being highly inflated compared to previous dungeons makes the encounters take longer as well as intentionally dragging out the first encounter as there is literally no way to really speed it up. The guns from the dungeon are pretty -blam!- besides 1 being the GL because its the only wave frame in the kinetic slot atm. But besides that farming those weapons is a pain in the -blam!- since encounters take so long, not even getting onto the problem with doing it solo which is just a snooze fest that I get bored half way through the first boss and quit out. What happened to the likes of Season of Dawn or Chosen where we had such a variety of content that was of actually relatively good quality?

Edited by Rockefeller: 7/6/2023 9:05:51 PMPure entitlement. This is the best season since Haunted (I know that’s not saying much) but people just want to be bitter towards Bungie so they can’t accept what good the season has delivered. Bungie’s art team, as always, did a phenomenal job with everything in the expansion, especially the underwater sections. Deep dives are the most compelling seasonal activity we’ve seen since Menagerie. A Rogue-like perk upgrading system with scaling difficulty and variable rewards based on player performance in the activity. That’s amazing, even if the combat sections could be more detailed. The seasonal story is actually strong, even if many of the story beats should have been part of lightfall. A refugee of the original worm god species ended up on Titan, which recently resurfaced from nonexistence. Sloane gets massively expanded upon and we finally get details on what happened to the planets that got raptured in Beyond Light. The story is also actually related to the main narrative of the game, which is more than can be said for things like Plunder. Veil Containment is technically part of lightfall and not the season, so it doesn’t really count (it is trash though). Fishing is gameplay variety, even if you don’t like it. It’s not very detailed in most games, and it’s not going to detailed in this one either. The secret mission in deep dives is also an actually challenging timed mission, which is something we haven’t seen in a long time (vox obscura doesn’t count, that mission was boring as hell). Titan getting brought back in full is a pipe dream. Everything added in seasons is meant to disappear at the end of the year. Plus, we have precedent with the returns of Mars and the Leviathan that those locations wouldn’t return in full, and would be restricted to scripted areas in missions. Standard Bungie stuff nowadays. The only real miss was Salvage, which is mostly just there as a seasonal activity placeholder since all of the effort went into Deep Dives. If you want to trash Bungie, be my guest. They deserve it. But don’t trash the few things they actually did right about the season, or else we’ll get more garbage that’s safe and predictable instead of actual attempts to innovate.
also, the IHE video is almost completely accurate with all of his criticisms about lightfall, but it’s unrelated to anything mentioned in your post
Is that what that thing is? 🤔 A whale? 🐳💨👀 I thought it was just an eyeball. 🫠

i see you finally realized what Bungie is doing. Only took you 21 seasons to realize that they are dripping trash content that we all buy into.
-
4 RepliesSounds like you set yourself up for failure with unrealistic expectations.

You still have two more seasons though.....

Of course I have the right to criticise my purchase. In that case Lightfall + Annual Pass. But ultimately it was my choice. It's not that Bungie forced me to do that. And, of course I should've known better after all those years. Even if I'm not agree with all of it, the content of this video is the best I've watched so far. In the meantime I see this very easy, The Final Shape will be the same as always, from which I have enough already for a long time... My purchases are based on good will and "hope" of something better but that will not happen.

Edited by blade329: 7/6/2023 2:46:35 AMI'm about half way through that video. Wow, what a cluster***k Lightfall is. It makes no sense. I'm so glad I didn't buy this. What is the point of bringing in Calus? The Witness is supposed to be SOOOO powerful, but he still needs lackeys to do his work? It's just padding for limited content. Giving you a mediocre boss, of zero relevance, to give the player something to do. He makes a great point at the end as to why the success of Destiny 2, in its current state, is bad for the consumer.
