The Seasonal Model Needs To Go , Quality over Quantity

And just make good new content whenever it is ready , you don't have deadlines anymore from a publisher , and this Quantity over Quality mindset has led to the community imploding , because you shortcut and recycle to be able to meet such strict time constraints you have saddled yourself with, that D2 has become a disaster If we don't get content for a year, so be it, we understandy will trail off and experience other virtual pursuits , but we will eagerly be awaiting your next masterpiece , but like that Diablo dev said, people are eventually going to leave your game, but you want them to take good memories with them, you don't want them to leave with a bad taste in there mouth, and that's what is happening, again , just like Vanilla I am seeing a mass streamer and player exodus Something drastic needs to change , axe the seasonal model and make a public apology and dedicate to making only good content Imagine how different D2 would be if we got a Taken King or Forsaken every year , yes we would have content droughts , but I think that's why we remember Taken King so fondly , the long wait after House Of Wolves Of course I don't even know why I posted this, because anyone who matters has already tuned out more than likely , oh well I will play when I feel like it, but not buying anything else , infact I may plop down $100 on Diablo 4 Ultimate Edition

  • Is there any point in lobbying for change now? We already know that we'll have this seasonal model until the end of Lightfall's content year, and then no one knows what Bungie plan to do after The Final Shape. I would prefer fewer content releases if they were bigger and better, but the current model has improved immensely over time. The kind of content droughts we had in D1 wouldn't be sustainable now, I don't think. Back then, it felt like there were more people who were happy just to play the game for fun, and those who were comfortable leaving because they know they could come back without missing anything. Now, Destiny has many more competitors in the live-service category and the community has an insatiable appetite for newness. The biggest downside of the game launching on PC is it made it so much easier for dataminers and leakers to find out everything, making it that much harder for Bungie to keep stuff secret. This week's cutscene about The Witness has been on social media since the first day of the season, details about this season's Exotics were posted months ago. It's significantly harder to keep people invested when they know about everything well in advance. I'm not into any other live-service games, but I would be amazed if any of them had as big a problem with this as Destiny does.

  • I second that. This game has gone down hill with seasonal content. Prefer D1 style, one massive TTK style of content. I can finish it and move on to other games. This FOMO crap does not work.

I agree I would rather spend 6-12 months redoing good content then spending 3 months redoing trash content for the sake of having more trash content in 3 months.

  • The problem with the seasonal model is they have maybe 2 hours of meaningful content and story left to tel(more like 30 minutes) and they are stretching it across two years

  • Sorry, but what you are paying for now is the best they will offer. They are done with this game, and the damage they caused is done that can not or will not ever be "fixed".

This season is 2 levels and fishing on repeat each week. The 2 levels are Good/average levels just still far to few of them. This is getting old now Bungie. Bungie is a multi billion dollar company these days, it feels like our trust is just getting taken advantage of now

  • Diablo 4 has a $100 price point? That's price gougey around here.

    • Seasons are tedious now! Predictable, boring and underwhelming! I last about two weeks and then I tap out 🤷🏼‍♂️

    • Tell that to the brainless consumers, you know the ones that buy all 100 tiers day 1. Sad to say, my friend does this and doesn't care about changing.

      • All the “ content drought “ criers asked for this. Had wake up and have something to nerd out to everyday. Thanks for the low stakes -blam!- content you grinding dorks

      • Content droughts are fine if the core activities are good. PVP hasn’t been touched (realistically) in years, Gambit literally hasn’t been touched in years, strikes are just recycled story missions or the silly battlegrounds. That isn’t going to keep people playing. That said the seasonal model is here to stay. Bungie has gotten way to greedy to go back to the expansion only or DLC models. I once played this like it was my job. That play time was reduced greatly just before TWC and O haven’t bought LF or either of the new seasons. I only play during IB and mayhem week now. Nothing else is worth my time for enjoyment.

      • Lol you want them to change what is likely to be their most incredibly profitable model, going into the final year of the franchise? Well I'm sure they'll get right on that.

        • I don’t know man, I have yet to see quantity. All I see here is friendship, and Bungie working hard to erase even that.

        • One of the main people at bungie was quoted as saying they prefer to get out quick content over good quality content. They believe smaller bits of lower quality content is more important for destiny 2. Their words not mine….

        • Yup. I actually like fun high quantity content, and then actually taking my time with said content before it becomes completely irrelevant or sunset.

          • I think you've said what a lot of people feel, but the more vocal of the community can't tolerate the idea of playing something else for a time while waiting for new content. A valid idea, though.
