Bungie is losing its community
I would consider myself a professional glazer when it comes to Bungie, but damn, is it just me or like Bungie has become very corporate in the last few months.
Like obviously, its a business, they aren’t your friend. But Destiny is losing its loyalty to its players, trying to milk as much money from them as they can. Eververse changes, expansion and dungeon costs, season pass increase, like damn. They’re aren’t even pretending to listen anymore.
Also, this wouldn’t be so bad if the actual quality of the content was going up, like then I understand why you want more money but its not. Maybe besides GotD which I think is the best dungeon in the game. Unless they improve the seasonal model and make it worth the new price, this all just seems scummy. I get inflation and studio expansion as well, but the product should still be up to par with the price, you can’t just release the same thing over and over again without improving it and expecting people to pay more.
Its a shame coz I love the game, and I don’t want them to let it sit and die like this.

6 RepliesD2 feels dead because it is. This franchise was started by two companies, Activision and Bungie. One of them, Activision, bailed out and threw this game into the garbage. That’s when all of this went downhill with neglect. Bungie alone has no creative power anymore. Game feels empty without the aid of their main investor Activision. But Bungie, is stuck with nothing, so they milk a dying game. All of this started with vanilla D2 launch. It was in such a bad state that millions left. They tried to save it by reverting everything during Forsaken, but it’s too late. Millions who left at D2 launch never came back. That’s how bad it was. Activision knew nothing can be done anymore, so they bailed out and left this game in the trash without looking back. And here we are now left with a lame and barren game that’s devoid of creativity. It’s a mess! 🤣 Absolutely nothing here but a shamble mess of shallowness!🤣

Since Diablo 4 came out I barely played a couple of hours in D2. I am coming back just to play some trials, but that is so messed up lately that I usually leave after two games. This game is dead

1 ReplyI just want to point out that we the consumers had our part to play in this as well . The downfall isnt just with bungie its the whole industry selling out . I knew when they merged with sony that thing where only going to get worse with the money stuff . But all of us that run and buy the new freshes drip from the store are free advertising for bungie and thats just basic . Destiny literally is a digital shopping mall with you and me paying to advertise for them . Not saying that would stop me from playing because i obviously do . But ..... And there is a but , im not gonna say it feels very good to realise that . Which is where my pain point lays , because for me at the end of the day the content could be subpar and some of the weaps busted or subclass stuff all that i expect . But the server problems are unexcepable i didnt pay 100 bucks for that disaster. But oh wait .... Apparently i did , and that kinda burns me cheeks.

It's going to have a documentary or something. One of the best game companies who produced two insanely influential and massive universes that helped push foward the narrative of their respective genres, die off because of value shifts within the company. Destiny [i]had[/i] the best chance at being possibly the biggest game of the century imo. It felt like a "all eyes on you" moment when Lightfall dropped - you have an incredible media, audio, and staging team, but fail to execute where it matters and the game plumits. The two trailers we got alone made me so incredibly hyped when I knew I shouldn't have been. Everyone else saw that failure too. There is no recovery sadly. Luke Smith and his team has killed something we've been anticipating for a decade.

As I have come to understand, inflation is an excuse that they have just thrown under the bus to save their hides. Microtransactions and pricing weren’t nearly as bad as they were when Bungie went through similarly worse times. It has effectively come down to how far they can push the syringe in until we tell them enough is enough. Lightfall can be some of the worst filler in the franchise so long as Final Shape saves their skin. It’s why Witch Queen felt so good despite the crappy seasons that came after. WQ kept us hooked to some kind of degree seeing how Beyond Light fell kinda flat at times, almost like a switch that they can flip. I imagine there are more realistic issues that may have come into play, but it’s hard for me to believe otherwise when I already gave them the benefit of the doubt in the past and was only met with could-have-beens and half-baked promises on the game’s direction. I genuinely feel sorry for the few designers and tech-handlers on their team that genuinely want to see their creation in a better light.

They HAVE NO REASON TO CARE. Monkeys already gave them 100 dollars for a full year. They have your money. Work for what? For what reason? Princesses to this day still continue to buy Eververse shlock. They added a whole new page that recommends things jUsT fOr YoU to buy with real money. No other way to earn them, simply "you are now allowed to buy this." Pathetic, as it has been for years. And every loser that this offends, good. You need to realize just how monumental of a loser you are for supporting this crap all these years. YOU and every other princess just like you ruined this game for the majority. All so you can feel like a special snowflake, since you can't accomplish anything tangible outside of your video game that you waste so much of your life on.

1 ReplyAs it should, they’ve neglected the game to the point where it went from my main game to uninstalled, I used to play like 6-8 hours a day and run raids and dungeons all the time, going for a ton of niche triumphs and I just don’t care anymore, without major changes and firing that guy who said “don’t overdeliver” I don’t think it’ll pull me back and I don’t think bungie can even hit the bar of regular delivering with final shape.

Aside from where you stand on the “console wars” I personally think after Sony snagged them they got pressured into heavily monetizing the game. Shaders were never for sale only, ordainments could be earned, brightdust was a plenty. If you take a look everyone owned by Sony goes money grubby. Microsoft does the same but it’s a tad bit more manageable

2 RepliesDestiny is a milking cow for its new game, and the devs are more worried about locking forum threats talking about pride month then keeping the game alive and they wonder why people are complaining, when this season we got 2 sets of weapons, one set is borderline gear removed from the game, cof cof people that grinded all the -blam!- from gambit prime, after all lets sunset 90% of weapons so we can re issue them a few seasons later and the best of all, the quote on quote 2º set of weapons are just reskins of the gambit prime stuff and no, before you look like a clown, taking a weapon, slapping a taken coat of paint on it and changing the frame should not be treated as anything but the pinnacle of laziness

More importantly I called both companies wrong and said bungo basically called their players out too when they said blizzard negates certain play styles and how blizzard ruined player power trips yet bungie did the same things with champion mods and lightfall difficulty scaling. To be clear I didn't pick any side either all I said was I'll play both but maybe diablo 4 more since it's somewhat newer. That probably wasn't the reason it was deleted I could have said something that is considered a banned word on these forums without me knowing who knows.

Edited by Sunburn Seastar: 6/18/2023 10:53:22 PMI’m unfortunately in the same boat it’s become quite clear that the game is being run by a skeleton crew being siphoned away by marathon. You can clearly see there’s a steep change in quality of writing between WQ vs Lightfall and risen-serph vs defiance and Deep, the year of WQ’s storyboarding and writing was significantly better than what we’re getting in the year of lightfall. The sad thing is Lightfall and deep both clearly had a solid concept but it’s quite evident Bungie is not designating enough resources towards Destiny 2 anymore. I just hope they get it together before Final Shape otherwise Destiny 2 will go out with a shudder.

If the pattern continues next season will be the worst season of all time, but they’ll hype up the next expansion so people will still be attached to the game. Then the 4th season this year will mostly be okay but because the season before it was so bad, the community will have a “we’re so back” attitude about destiny.

At least those of us who shelled out for each expansion, season, dungeon key, etc. A lot of us complained about it but kept on doing it. Bungie says "hey these players are eating it up, let's see how far we can go." And that's how we got here.
