Beside the fact that people realized that behemoth’s super can put in some serious dps in a couple niche scenarios, stasis is terrible when compared to the other subclasses and has fallen behind.
The difficulty spike created in lightfall was created with the fact in mind that subclasses have become significantly more powerful over time. However, stasis was created in an awkward time where it wasn’t built to be significantly stronger than the light 2.0 classes at the time (except in PvP during release), but was supposed to be a test dummy for the subclass 3.0 format. Now that the subclass 3.0 format has been fully applied, stasis is essentially in a subclass 2.5 form where it has the layout of a 3.0 subclass with the strength of a 2.0 subclass which wasn’t that big of a deal until the difficulty spike which pushed it out of the game almost entirely. For example, on your mark and winters shroud are two similar aspects, one on solar, one on stasis, where one slows nearby enemies on a dodge while the other gives 60 reload, 60 handling, a .93x reload speed multiplier on a dodge, and can be refreshed on precision final blows, AND grants one more fragment slot than winters shroud? The aspects for stasis are extremely lackluster and less impactful than most, if not all of the subclass 3.0 aspects.
Furthermore, stasis was terribly affected by the new mod system and even though we have a form of elemental shards back, it is weaker than before, effectively leaving stasis in a nerfed form compared to pre-lightfall, whereas the overall difficulty of the game went up in lightfall.
A suggestion I have is to remove the three aspects across the 3 classes revolving around stasis shard creation and give them the firesprite/ionic trace/tangle/void breach treatment where certain fragments have regular buffs while also granting new methods of creating these elemental pickups. Several of the other underperforming aspects on our stasis subclasses already such as winters shroud, literally any of the titan aspects, or frostpulse, should also be given additional interactions or be reworked entirely.
Conclusion: it’s time for Stasis 2.0.

1 ReplyAfter taking a huge breao from stasis at the start of the Witch queen and the 3.0 changes, I got into a recent "renaissance" persay with Stasis Warlock as the neutral game is by far it's biggest + Chain freezing with cold snap spam. Completely turning off the game with Stasis turret spam... It is absolutely crazy I have maybe 2 complaints. Warlocks can't shatter crystals akin to how Titans can by sliding or Hunter can by Diving. Heck, not even the Warlock's Super Pulse wave can shatter stasis crystals.. wtf The Super still feels weak in most endgame activities. The shatters don't do much damage to anything outside of mid tier trash mods and forget about trying to kill Champions with it. If anything it's just a panic button if both your teammates are dead or you get jump scared by a Overload Captain. My hope is each class will eventually get a second Stasis Super in due time, but realistically, probably not.

13 RepliesI have mained stasis since beyond light and I still main it, I can only speak for my class atm. Warlock stasis is generally in a good spot but needs some quality of life updates and couple small things such as removal of shard cooldown, for example my friend used to main behemoth and is now maining berserker and did not have a shard cooldown. Other: rework wrath weavers( even with shatterpulse tech these just aren't worth the natural game sacrifice and are a laughing stock) Super: some people like it, since beyond light I have hated it, once your power level is capped damage just seems to fall off. Qol all classes: some fragments could use some small adjuatment and maybe add a new one. Fragments examples: Whisper of torment( one of the popular ones but I would appreciate is the energy wasn't randomized each time you take damage l) Conduction: slightly increase attraction range. As a new fragment maybe give us a stasis round frag like chill clip for stasis wep. As a closing note I do not agree with removing shard aspects, you can build into them better then other classes pickups at a larger rate and they can provide large amounts of melee energy and overshield. If you made it this far thank you and I can't wait for them to do absolutely nothing for stasis as I am used to it.

Absolutely

Stasis hunter feels unusable when compared to the other subclasses. Definitely needs a lot of love.

6 RepliesNah stasis is fine the way it is. If anything behemoth is getting out of hand and needs tuning down. Slow effects last forever too

1 ReplyAsking for a rework, Bungie will nerf

Stasis all done, just have wait until Next time where Stasis Mod on again. Strand will be same thing nerf down to original, only getting Buff from seasonal Mod, next season Strand will start getting some of nerf. Threader will first.

Stasis Hunter Winter’s Shroud- Dodging slows nearby targets Slowed enemies deal less damage Shattering enemies makes them vulnerable (take increased damage) for a very short time New Variant of the Stasis Storm super- Stasis Storm does not track enemies. The stasis storm will track to whatever ally is nearest and follow them. It would not be able to keep up with a sprinting speed, but walking would be fine and even if a player leaves the radius it will attempt to find the nearest ally. The Stasis Storm does not freeze enemies that enter its radius, only slows, and probably does much less damage. The Stasis Storm will provide a large amount of damage resistance to all allies within it. I think an amount equal to Renewal Grasps with enemy+you inside would be fair, as it is a super, if not more. The Stasis Storm will also periodically fire out ice crystals at nearby enemies, similar to how Winterbite’s ranged attack works. I think it would be reasonable if these prioritized Bosses/Champions. These would freeze the target. IMO that’s literally all Revenant needs. Combined with other suggested changes, such as new melees and making stasis shard generation default to the subclass instead of tied to aspects or at least putting them on fragments, stasis hunter at least would be really fun to play. It already has a decent base to work off of, just needs these little additions.

1 ReplyBungie: we're listening. So we're nerfing suspend.

Is it just me but stasis melee seems to target air instead of enemy could be me but no clue but stasis needs some work

Edited by Hawpy: 6/17/2023 11:06:58 AM- Stasis Shards created when freezing/shattering an enemy by default - remove the Aspects that are used to create Stasis Shards and replace them with new ones - create second Supers, second melees and more grenades - buff the underperforming Stasis Exotic armour pieces e.g. Ballidorse Wrathweavers, Renewal Grasps I think Stasis is often very underrated, but it definitely suffers from a lack of options. I don't feel like there's much room to experiment with Stasis when compared to other subclasses. I would put this down to a lack of distinct Keywords, because Slow, Freeze and Shatter are all part of the same system. On most of the other subclasses, you can build around one Keyword and involve others if it fits; for Stasis, it's almost impossible to build into Stasis Shards, Stasis Crystals or Slow, and Shatter can't be done on its own, so the only realistic option is Freeze and that makes a lot of the builds feel same-y. Look at Strand, where Tangles will come naturally from building around anything else, or Solar, where you can absolutely focus on Scorch without ever needing Ignite. This is emphasised by Stasis mods almost never appearing in the artefact or it being active as the weekly/seasonal subclass for Pinnacles and challenges, so no one is incentivised to use it or try different builds.
-
All that needs to happen is just make the shard generating aspect of stasis to be INTRINSIC to the class. Tangles don’t need an aspect, why should stasis?
-
mainly need a 2nd super for them.
-
I definitely agree that stasis is underpowered. When I can use TWO charged melees back to back on a red bar and not even kill it then there’s a problem. Then again this was on Neptune which is it’s own can of worms
-
Excellent suggestion!

4 RepliesStasis use to be good, when it came out. But it was completely broken in PVP. Bungie and the pvp community pretty much destroyed Stasis. Bungie has been give it some tweaks now and then but it has never been the same since
-
1 ReplySuspend is getting a nerf, so that’s a plus for stasis. However the big issue is that freezing a suspended target takes them out of suspend. That’s not the “synergy” we need in this game. They need different melee options. Apart from that, and maybe a Stasis exotic buff, I actually think stasis is in a good spot. Hunter and warlock are very competent, in all levels of content. Behemoth abilities could use some more shatter damage/synergy between hitting frozen targets. The super is insane in all content levels for PvE.
-
2 RepliesIts also dumb when a titan storm nade beats silence and squall in damage AND add clear.
-
Agreed. Especially compared to Strand’s ability to cc-which was really the only thing Stasis had going for it.

Edited by Kiro - 13: 6/16/2023 11:31:41 PMI would like to know why Bungie nerf'd Duskfeild by 45%. Every other ability & grenade received a 20% increase with Lightfall. However Duskfeild need a nerf of nearly 50% clearly... After Bungie directly saying stasis felt under-powered and need to be brought up to par with light 2.0 subclasses.

I love stasis warlock, however solar and void offer a more fun and practical play style for me. I mean, nothing says I love you like volatile rounds.

2 RepliesEdited by IcyHorizons: 6/16/2023 10:50:06 AMStasis has had an identity crisis since Lightfall. Everything Stasis can do, Strand can literally do better. Want to negate a poor thrall scratching your legs? Suspend. Want to stop that Unstoppable Ogre from lasering your teammate? Suspend. See? There's almost no reason to use Stasis in PvE. PvP.. well I don't really see a lot of Stasis in my games. I see the occasional suspend Hunters but rarely any Titans or Warlocks using Stasis. My idea, rework the functionality of Stasis. By definition Stasis is basically the act of freezing something.. it does this really well HOWEVER the problem is that with current Stasis, is the fact that it relies too heavily on the grenades. A solution would be to remove Duskfield and Glacier Grenade. Yes I realize that this HEAVILY limits build crafting but hear me out. If Cold Snap grenades are the only grenade for Stasis, this leans back into what Stasis is at its core. Rework ALL the aspects. For Titans, casting your barricade creates a line of partial seeking freezing projectiles (much like Drengrs Lash for Strand) For Warlocks, casting your rift gives you a Stasis turret that slows enemies and eventually freezes targets when enough stacks are applied. For Hunters, using your dodge freezes nearby targets (current Stasis aspect) and when enemies are defeated, they send out seeking projectiles to freeze any other enemies. Supers is where it gets tricky as Warlocks and Hunters are fine, but Titans... I'm not sure about that one.
-
2 RepliesI personally like where stasis is, I like the slow, freeze and break mechanics. In pve stasis is quite good if you are warlock or behemoth. Hunters definitely need stasis buffs on pve (Not pvp!). It would be cool to also get new stasis supers. All light subclasses have a roaming and a one and done super, the darkness subclasses should have the same treatment but I assume thats gonna happen after we get our final subclass.
