When bringing the coral to Sloane and she does her thing with Ahsa, she is obviously physically present at the time. But then I am prompted to go to a different area in the helm to see a hologram of her. Why? Why is this a thing? Why can’t I just simply talk to her afterward, because, you know, she is literally right there!

Same thing happened last season with Mira Sov at the farm. She chatted to you, disappeared, reappeared 5 metres behind you, then you had to chat on a holo projector to her whilst she was still in view. Wtf. A cheap and lazy way to add another stage to gameplay.

Unfortunately we are at the point where Bungie has a seasonal “cookie cutter “ idea of how seasonal stores should go. They just rotate in/ out the NPCs you need to talk with. It’s also made to have the seasons seem like there’s more to do, then there actually is. ~ 30-60 steps a season. 1/3 seasonal playlist activities. 1/3 talk to seasonal “main “NPC(s) in person 1/3 listen to and or talk to NPCs by holographic projector. Typically right after you saw them in person. To add on, with the weekly setup, now it’s about 5-6 steps a week. With 2-3 of those steps be in some kind of meeting.

1 ReplyIf you play last seasons missions all at once, there is a part where you talk to Devram at the farm, go to the holoprojector to talk to Devram, then go to the helm to talk to Devram on that holoprojector. After that, you go back to the farm. Triple A stuff!

1 ReplyI have a theory. There's a template for season quests that Bungie is using that has steps preset in a certain order. Every season they fill in the blanks (destination, dialogue, cutscene, holo character, etc). When the character is literally on the same planet or just spoke to you but you still have to get an extra message on the projector, it seems like that's the case. I'm 80% certain of this and almost every inkling I had about things like this are confirmed given enough time.

Because they're too cheap/lazy/busy/whatever to animate her whole body for the whole thing and with the hologram, they only have to animate ~half of her.
-
Lazy writing mate. Can't be bothered to make a cgi scene 30 seconds longer. How much more proof do we need to see bungle don't give a crap

because all they do these days is string everything out in the name of gameplay, oldest trick in the book
-
Takes less time to develop and animate them Vs the hologram projector so they use it. Basically lazy and cheap. 3.2 billion dollar company btw

Oh and my favorite, even over the previous phrase: “wE dOnT wAnT t0 oVeRdEliVer”

2 RepliesImagine if people did this in real life. Like you're talking to a friend somewhere & they leave just to call you & continue the same conversation lol
-
I agree,It's really dumb.
-
Sloane doesn't want you to see her struggling. Like an actor taking a moment to collect themselves.
-
Because every season is essentially a copy and paste and saves time not animating the entire conversation
-
It's kinda inconvenient and annoying yeah. But I also kind of interpreted it as her being completely wiped from communing with ahsa and just needing to go sit and think about what she saw for a moment before talking more.
-
Because.... Bungie🤣🤣🤣🤣
-
Cause I dont think they actually play the game and think "does this make sense, is the way we do about stuff fun and engaging?"

My guess... Is all about the numbers, if let's say 200k players have to spend an extra 15 seconds to walk over to the radio, that's an extra 800 hours of playtime that makes the game look better when talking to investors/shareholders/big wigs
-
1 ReplyBungie made some statement about why they actually couldn't do that given some system limitations or something like that. I don't recall what it was though
-
1 ReplyBecause Bungie doesn't know how real people talk to each other
-
oh no i have to walk 2 seconds whil she try to stay alive
-
I imagine she like takes a recovery break for a while before she calls us
