I've been grinding away at fishing for the last few days and it's gotten to the point to where it just doesn't even feel fun anymore. I burn more bait on catching blue and green fish than anything. Even when we manage to get the focused fishing bar maxed out, yeah I can catch fish faster, but that doesn't make them any better.
It's just very frustrating to be on a bait grind and then spend several hours fishing, only to take 9 legendary fish back to the helm, and maybe 1 exotic fish.
I'm perfectly fine with exotic fish being harder to get, but if I'm at the popular fishing spot for the week, and the focused fishing bar is filling or maxed, I shouldn't be getting only blue and green drops.
Honestly, freaking Warframe has a better fishing system with different baits for various fish, as well as completely different fish depending on both location and time of day; Destiny is doing mostly the same fish no matter where you are, and yet they make it feel like pulling teeth just to get a few legendary fish, let alone exotic ones.

1 ReplyThe thing that's happened for me is the higher the fishing buff the less purples I get. This is an observation not a complaint as I'm generally just fishing to chill and chat
-
2 RepliesYour problem is you thought sitting there pressing a button was fun to begin with. Braindead dopamine drip.

1 Reply80% of the Guardians: Bungie, we want SRL back! Bungie: we heard you, here you have fishing... and not even good fishing. Enjoy
-
Edited by PS1 Hagrid: 6/12/2023 10:59:54 PMBungie be like: We hear you and we will be deleting legendary fish as they offer a small farm for legendary shards.
-
2 RepliesBungie had to think of something to pad out the season with since power grind was not going to be a thing. Behold fishing, where you do even less than you used to when you chased power and still get to experience the full force of Bungie designed RNG. Borderline getting trolled if you think about it.

2 RepliesI'm going to say it regardless of the hate I'll probably get I think destiny isn't a Japanese RPG That fishing thing never made sense to me, even when they're in Japanese titles Putting fishing in d2 is literally Sony pissing around Bungie to show territory ownership
-
I'm tired of struggling the focus only for some public event to take it all away
-
Remember, this is the best content they can come up with. content is hard. So we literally press one button for hours, while mostly standing still. Fantastic effort bungie.
-
I'd just like to use more bait at once. How long does it take to use 500 bait compared to how long it takes to dunk 500 fish? That's not including what you'll get from events and reusing bait. I'm betting they did it this way so they can pat themselves on the back later for how much our play time has increased with an activity so insignificant they literally could've turned it into an emote.

Cod Duello especially its rarer then the fricking exotic fish at this point.
-
6 RepliesIs there more than one exotic fish? Cause I've only ever caught that one axehead fish
-
1 ReplyPlot twist! It's all a setup! Wouldn't be surprised if they started selling "fishing lure packages" in Eververse! Lol 😆

Edited by Sturm with no Drang: 6/12/2023 2:27:03 PMLike most things from Bungie, it’s terribly implemented and lacking in polish and refinement. Imagine having a bad streak back to back and never being able to go past halfway on the focus bar all due to the pond disappearing every twenty or so minutes when another Public event starts, nevermind only getting a minuscule amount of Legendary Fish and maybe the one Axehead. Fishing is great as a side thing to keep me coming back for every week for maybe one day, but it’s definitely not worthwhile content to keep me engaged. I go in, get my weekly dust and GotD clears, and bail for either Elden Ting or Monster Hunter. There are better ways to use my game time.

Edited by TheShadow: 6/12/2023 1:19:47 PM
I shouldn't be getting only blue and green drops.
Of course, Warframe has a better system because most things like the loot system actually have a purpose, to keep the players engaged in the game/content. Unlike Destiny which just has you running the same activities hundreds of times just for 1 maybe 2 items. Destiny loot system is only based on "RNG" with the same basic loot you have been grinding for since 2014 that is literally designed to drop garbage loot more often than not, and that's not including the absurd amount of times it drops duplicates. Every activity in Destiny is designed this way with garbage loot used as a filler. All these years they had a chance to actually do something with the game and they wasted all that time and resources on just the same rinse-and-repeat design choices/development.

Edited by The Hermit IX: 6/11/2023 9:21:50 PMFriday night I caught 3 exotic fish, 14 legendary fish and 60 rare fish and 35 common fish. I also caught the largest fish to date. It was the best fishing session I’ve had to date. It’-blam!- or miss like real fishing but it’s by far the easiest way to get exotics and materials in the game. I wonder if they’re going to introduce lures at one point. I love it lol.
-
Somehow earlier I managed to catch 15 legendary fish in 20 minutes. Before that I had caught maybe 5 in a couple hours over the past 3 weeks.
-
2 RepliesDude I have almost 700 fish and guess how many exotics? 2. Lmao
-
I wish I could give you my 500 baits. Haven’t gone fishing since day one when the quest required us to visit the ponds.

Never leave a Purple floundering...

Warframe has a better fishing system because it is has gameplay its not just pushing a button waiting a 15-30 seconds and pressing the button again. Destiny fishing is nothing but a lazy way to add something you can call content. It's corner cutting at its worst because there are tons of good fishing mini games from other games that they could have used as an example of how to make it good.

1 ReplyI dunno what you're talking about. It's never been fun.
-
1 ReplyIt felt fun... ever? I've never understood the enthusiasm for fishing in games. It's about as boring as real fishing. Worse so when someone is constantly jumping around in front of you trying to distract from the activity.
-
The main point of fishing is to have a chill activity for farming for Legendaries and Exotics. Considering how low effort it is and how grindy D2 is overall, it was to be expected that drop rates would be abismal. I find the drop rates for Lost Sectors, especially the higher difficulty ones, far more triggering.
-
I'm having more of a problem with the rewards, turned in 8 legendaries an received 2 engrams, seasonal chest and 2 cores. Definitely not worth the time.
-
It’s definitely RNG. I was going hard last night, 5-6 legendaries in a row with half focus bar, an exotic every other pond. And I caught more exotics than my brother did legendaries. But last time we were fishing, he was pulling 2-3 exotics per pond. Gonna be honest though, nothing like seeing “Perfect Catch!” and pulling a green. 😩
