I came back to Destiny 2 mid way through season 20 and haven't had a single error code since. I finally got my Hunter up to level and did RON. Wanting to run it again, I paid the $20 in-game to boost my warlock to the soft cap. Every time I load into a planet and go to kill something with my warlock, I get error code Monkey. My hunter is totally fine.
I've tried the following: restarting game, restarting computer, restarting router and modem, deleted and re-installed Destiny 2, logged out of my steam account, tried both ethernet and w-fi
Bungie please help me play the character I just put $20 into

I'm dealing with the same scenario for my hunter. In addition to what you did above I also completely reset my router to factory settings, reset my computer networking to factory settings, manually set my dns server to google, ensured all of my drivers and destiny were up to date, flushed my dns and restarted my network settings, am connected via a cat6 lan cable, and disabled all vpns. So it's not my internet considering that it is fine for every other game and my warlock character. Pretty annoying since like you I also just boosted this character and am out $20 for something that I cannot use.
