One of the best values in gaming. I spend maybe 150usd per year.
We'll see what Diablo offers long term... though, essentially, they're trying to copy Bungie's model. I bought the periscope emote pack yesterday 😉.
Stop trying to shame people for enjoying their money... this business isn't predatory, imagine if Andy Wilson ran stuff?
The criticism I have for the monetization, is that it's all over the place. Having to buy a proxy currency with a remainder to buy gameplay content doesn't look good either. There's too much confusion for new and returning players; what to buy to catch up or in targeting the content you want to play. There should be digital deluxe upgrade sku... there is recommended tab in Eververse now; for new and returning players that tab should outline and explain their options with new skus to match... like a Dungeon pass.
I want a premium add-on sub program like GTA.

I just wanna focus on your comment of a gta+ like subscription for destiny. I think thats the worst take ever. Gta+ doesnt ad any value for long playing players. Most of the stuff you get is crap or old crap. The exclusives are never worth the money you put in and the discount on sharkcards is a joke. Also how will it translate to destiny. You get sunset weapons and shaders? Currency that most people already have enough of? Ornaments that people already own? Gta+ is for the guillable, whales and maybe new players that are too lazy. They need to give us another vendor refresh of armour before they ad more eververse crap. The closest destiny has to gta+ are the event cards that offer more rewards from the events. But those are never worth the money that they ask for it.

Do you know how many players would pay JUST for that? 50% of the people on my friends list... I would. 2. An additional 10 spots/tab for loadouts 3. Weekly, but non-repeatable high-end Material bountes 4. A daily login bonus 5. Eververse discount and an exclusive weekly discount like *item*/*bundle* for 90%off That's what + subscribers would get. This is what everyone would get: 1. 100 extra vault space (700). Bungie+ (1400) 2. A daily login bonus 3. Dedicated Servers That worth 10usd per month to me.

I play gta, i check every month what it has to offer. To see if it ever goes to far and becomes pay to win or if its actually worth it 1 time. So far its all useless crap. With only thing that ever peaked my intrest was a livery for a car i reguarly use. (Instead i used the money for a cosmetic pack in DRG a game actually worth supporting.) Gta+ is a useless service to most. Even the new "car club" its gonna offer next big update is not worth it. Unless you just started and only stays usefull for maybe a week. Dedicated servers is never gonna happen for destiny... they would have rebuild the entire game. Marathon has it because they could build with it right from the start. I dont see them adding more vault space. Especially paid. Iknow its bungie and they are pretty greedy but i dont see them lower themselves to Take2's lvl.

And I defined the benefits, some premium subs are good, some are meh... or bad. A lot of players and gaming journalists/reviews see Gta+ as a "good" one. That's the consensus. People would pay for the benefits I outlined even if dedicated servers weren't included. And ... No, they would not have to rebuild the game to add dedicated servers. That's not true. I know 😉 what I'm talking about. It wouldn't be cheap though... that's why a sub would be great way to subsidize it. I appreciate the real engagement, they could mess it up. I want better monetization... solvency... and dedicated servers; a premium add-on (optional) subscription service could provide for all that. 😇 👍💠

I heard so many diff things about dedicated servers for d2. And most of it comes down to it not being feasable. Maybe i confused the rebuild the whole game with them having to rebuild shatterd throne to allow rally flags thing. We where told ages ago that eververse would pay for free events/updates. Aka also for better servers(not dedicated per se). Wich recently is definetly showing they are not using the money to do so. So i doubt destiny+ would change that. As for gta i grinded the living hell out of heist with friends 1summer. And we got enough money to no longer worry. 4weeks 3hours during a break from work for 120+mil. And having played since launch also helps with collecting everything over the years. No need for gta+ if youre willing to work for it. And tbh i dont like paid handouts like gta+. It just feels scummy that someone can use their moms credit card to get something you grinded for. And it should not happen to destiny. Eververse is a slipperly slope as is. Do you want dedicated servers? Then you want a subscription program... you don't have to enroll. This (for D2) is the Tiger engine. We have hybrid P2P network infrastructure. Marathon? Guess what engine? Tiger. It will have fully dedicated servers per the marketing. ??? Explain to me why D2 can't have dedicated servers. Where are you getting that info. I'll give you rudimentary solution... I can ghost/sim a network within a network... I can ghost/sim an OS within another OS. That's how you could do it ... you wouldn't want to do it that way, but you could... simulate the P2P infrastructure on fully dedicated servers.

Edited by BadDay: 6/9/2023 3:56:54 AMMonetization is a much older concept than people think, you should look it up some interesting stuff, also look up the history of gaming, I think there is a documentary on it, but anyways Diablo Monetization didn't copy Destiny, Fork Knife created the modern standard for it, I personally have no problems with it, honestly companies live and die by us customers, bumgo keeps going down this path, just like many other corporations these past few years will start to crumble, Destiny is the Destiny killer.

Yeah, they are... there's a plethora of articles out right now, most credit Destiny 2 as well as other titles like WoW. The D3 seasonal model became more and more like Destiny 2, and in D4 it's really close. It doesn't matter who started it, they're mirroring Destiny 2's iteration. "A forever game".

No they are mirroring Dota 2, Team Fortress 2, and Fortnite just like Bungie did. Bungie didn't invent battle/season pass and cosmetics so your wrong to give them all the credit like Diablo 4 is trying to copy Bungie when Bungie copied another content creating business.

Paying players have expectations and with the price tag nearing a full game price, destiny is on the disappointing territory content wise where you get that much for less money if not free in other games. Dungeon, from base DLC purchase to dungeon keys, technically you pay the same amount with dungeon missing from the package. I'm not surprised if they chop off more from base DLC purchase as another keys or pass New content every 3 months? Are you sure it's not another banking motes or throwing balls every 3 months?
