Plz take out comp u guys don’t know how to do a rank system
Playing people that are max on comp in my placements love it.

1 ReplyThey do, Halo 3 had a perfect ranking system. If you didn't belong at 50 you didn't get to 50. The problem with Destiny 2 is there are to many abilities and to much cheese to abuse. The top tier players all crutch this. Halo three was great just you and your br with a couple of nades. You had to time power ups and power weapons. Literally the only way you climbed was being good at the game. Those were the glory days. Do yourself a favor, quit playing comp in this game. I did after three seasons of climbing to legend.

Every game I’ve played (except ow) uses sbmm instead of rank based mm in the ranked/comp mode. My theory is that devs do not want average/below average players to actually know for 100% certain where they stand in the community (very low rank) because that can lead to hurt feelings and quitting the game. Devs prefer that any and all players have at least a small chance of hitting top ranks instead of each player having a hard ceiling based on their actual skill level.

4 RepliesD2 comp was ranked in season 3 to 7. It got changed to sbmm in season 8. The main reason why it's still sbmm is to give everyone a chance for Ascendant, which isn't really fair, I saw a guy with a new emblem in 2nd day of this season, he was a 1.2 kd player and had around 40% winrate in comp this season but he still got to Ascendant that fast. If it was purely ranked Ascendant would be much harder to get for majority of players than now. I'm all here for ranked matchmaking, but that's the only reason why sbmm is still in comp despite it being called ranked.

They didn't even do a rank system. They reskinned comp with ranks and added sdmm lol

So instead of not playing the game mode you’re upset with you want them to completely remove it…for you? That’s like me saying take raids or gambit out completely. Just because I don’t care for em, doesn’t mean bungie should remove it. Clearly people are playing them.

1 ReplyWhat kind of competitive rank system has SBMM outside of just pure ELO matchmaking. Literally could not go a match at high silver without at least 1-2 plats and a bunch of golds last season. It needs to be pure Rank, gold 1’s play gold 1’s and bronze 3’s play bronze 3’s. Then filter by connection. Maybe open it up a little bit on the higher end to keep match time and connection ok. All they needed to do was copy Overwatch’s bare-bones and they’d at least have it be functioning

I think the ranking system is bad but in your placements you play all skill levels. It’s assessing where you fit.

25 RepliesThe point of a ranking system is to use that for matchmaking. Golds with Golds, Ascendants with Ascendants, etc. That they also tie SBMM into the matchmaking is just absurd. I'm a proponent of SBMM in other PvP game modes, but when you [i]already [/i]have what is functionally SBMM (the ranking system) you don't have to [i]also [/i]include SBMM behind the scenes on top of that. You can tell they're deathly afraid of smurfing if they're insisting they do it this way.

Comp isnt ranked based sadly. Its Skill based so it places you with people with similar skills. I know your pain. Also lower player base probably makes it worse because they have to make the player pool larger to get you match.

Comp is the epitome of trash and unfair matchmaking. I don't care much about this seasons ascendent emblem so not touching it. If you play it, I'd really recommend going in duo because the solo experience will make even Buddhist monks smash their monitors.

It works like this: and this is my take on it at least what I found out so far: Competitive does have ranking systematic you can see. But this is just a cosmetic system to keep you motivated: Competitive is complete skillbase: So the game doesn’t take in to consideration what you’re in game rank is. It has a hidden skill rating behind the scene. This skill rating bungie calls sr. This score is invisible to us players but if you want a general idea, I did this made a seconds account played normal crusible the game wil assign you a sr behind the scene then I when to do my comp evaluation matches after losing all my 7 evaluation matches I still got gold 3 the highest ranking in the game. This to me means before my evaluation bungie all ready assigned me the highest pre determined skill rating for my placement. Now how does the point system work. Because every payer does have a hidden sr rating from 0/2000 your match up will be like: Team 1 Player 1: 500 Player 2: 500 Player 3: 1200 Team 2 Player 1: 300 Player2: 300 Player3: 1600 If player 3 on team 2 lose this match he will lose at redicules amount of points close to 200 points because he is expected to beat the lobby. Both team are equal to 2200 points but the game assumed that he will ba able to crry the other 2 300 sr players. Now if player 3 wins the match he will win 5 points because the pre determined score of the game was that he would win his sr is just higher then the other team. Bungie called this competitive sbmm matchmaking. In Vise versa, the players on the other team just beat player 3 on team 2 they will get about 100/170 points per player because the are victory’s in a game where they where expected to lose. This is how to gain points win matches where the game thinks you’re in a disadvantage. A adjustment to this example this is a extreem example of how it works. Just to give a clear example because the game mode has a lot of sbmm in this playlist the numbers are nrml closer to each other. 1000/1500 players will face eachother. The game does take in to considerably kda/score etc. For example if player 3 on team 2 ends up with a lower score( dunks in rift ) kda ( survival ) then one of his 300 teammates he will lose even more points. Hope this helps a little with the score understanding. Think of destiny competitive pvp as Mario cart competitive. And pls don’t take its seriously because it will make you so frustrated and it’s not worth it. Bungie openly admitted that destiny isn’t a competitive game. The playlist is only here to keep some players happy for revenue. Its not here to be that game. Have a great one
