Has anyone caught an exotic fish? How rare are the drops?
The title is the topic.
UPDATE: I caught three exotic fish, back to back. Shout out to the two Guardians who had filled the fish meter at 85% before I arrived like a panhandler asking for change. Good-luck to anyone who has yet to catch an exotic fish! 👍

I got 3-4 already, funny part is at least in my experience, the fishing bar ( forgot the name) was never more than 1/4 full when caught mine.

13 RepliesEdited by Kiro - 13: 6/4/2023 8:22:23 PMDO NOT FISH FOR WEEKS 1-3, only start fishing in week 4 & after. The exotic fish are time gated, you can only catch keperian axeheads atm. The exotic fish that are tied to each location you can not catch yet.

I got 2, about a day apart. Too random to say. I know I caught my 2nd one in the EDZ at sub 1 bar of focused fishing. And there’s only one exotic fish on top of that

I’ve landed several, with a few other Guardians present - 2 or 3 at most, and way before the blue bar was even full. Staying on a streak seemed to help a lot, ie, fish / public event / fish / PE / fish / etc…; and done mostly on the weekly recommended fishing spot - as indicated in one’s consumable section. Also, patience…and persistence (grind) seems to work best, imho. Oh, be sure to clear any good stuff parked in your postbox before you dump your fish into the tank, as the veritable flood of rewards for the catch will clear your cache! 😁 Cheers! 🫡

I've got one...fish meter was full the other day with 5 of us fishing and nothing If I wanted to fish, I'd do it for real.

I’ve caught maybe 100 fish so far and haven’t got an exotic yet. Some purples but no exotic.

I've had 3, all Kheprian Axeheads. There are supposed to be 4 types in the game so either we're getting something more later in the season or Bungie messed up. You know where the smart money is...

It took me close to 400 (seriously lol) to get my first exotic fish lol. There’s been times where I’ve caught 2-3 within 50. It’s just RNG unfortunately lol

I've caught 2 or 3 in the few time's I've fished. Probably used about 400 bait or so among all of it.

One in about 100 or so bait used. A guy fishing next to me pulled FIVE while I was there. About 20 minutes. I wouldn’t believe it if I didn’t see it for myself.

Caught one on my first cast, now it is a struggle to even get a legendary fish.

I got the triumph for catching an exotic fish while doing the public event in the EDZ landing zone beside Devrim’s church. I hadn’t even been fishing at all. No idea how or why it happened. 🤷♀️ -

I caught one. Prbly took 500-600 fish but I wasn’t always fishing with bait. Watched a good video though that basically said don’t collect any fish and wait for 3-4 public event interruptions before collecting, that way if you have enough legendary fish to collect, you can bump that meter up far faster.

Yesterday i caught 5 exotic fish in around 300 bait.

Check which spot is currently exotic, atm its WQ miasma, roughly I'm seeing 1 per 100 on average. Think I'm at 10 or so all told. Although the tank only shows 1. The meter is a little misleading, its level might affect legend drops but so far it seems irrelevent to axeheads. For me atleast :)
