I live in Texas but spend 2 months of the year in New York. Rather than lugging my PS4 back-and-forth every time I travel to New York, I'm thinking about leaving my PS4 and Destiny 2 disc in New York and getting a PS5 and another Destiny 2 disc in Texas.
Since my game data is saved online, I don't see it being an issue. However, according to https://help.bungie.net/hc/en-us/articles/360048719412-Playing-Destiny-Content-on-Multiple-Consoles-or-with-Multiple-Accounts, "Players can only play on the same Destiny account on consoles of the same console family generation."
Does that just mean I need to activate cross-save? Would i also need to purchase another Destiny license as well? Or since I'm already buying another Destiny disc, that solves the license issue?

That help article is for Destiny, not Destiny 2. The save data for Destiny 1 is split between the PS3 and the PS4/PS5. If you're going to play Destiny 2, you just need to use the same PSN ID when logging in on either console and your characters will be available. You don't need to worry about Cross-Save for this. It should also be noted, as another poster pointed out, that you can uninstall the Destiny 2 disc version and install the Destiny 2 digital version from the Playstation Store so you no longer need to use the disc to play the game. Destiny 2 is free to play and download from the Playstation Store. The discs also do not hold any of your DLC licenses, as those are already digital to begin with; you can completely do away with the disc. The install size, whether using the Disc or the completely Digital version is the same, since the game install from the Disk is considerably outdated and has to be overwritten by the current install data.

Edited by Crisidelm: 5/30/2023 9:25:03 AMYou don't need discs (anymore) for Destiny 2. As long as the consoles are not logged in at the same time, there is no problem. As long as you use the same account, you are all set.

1 ReplyDestiny or Destiny 2? Cross Save does not apply to the original Destiny.
