Fishing is a nice touch bungie, great job
I dig it. It's a nice, relaxing activity. I hope yall expand on it. Add other fishing ponds (ice fishing on europa), fishing gear ornaments (i need a fly fishing vest), an emote with a cooler that holds my drinks while I fish, etc.
Great addition.
Edit: other ideas that came to me - night fishing on the moon; vr fishing on neomuna; ascendant plane fishing in the dreaming city.
Edit 2 - fyi, the focused fishing meter is increased by legendary or better fish that are collected. When 1 of those is picked up, it goes up. The more people fishing, the better chance to fill the meter faster.

I originally thought Id get bored of fishing pretty quickly but I spent pretty much all last week fishing. Its really relaxing and I'm loving see guardians rush to finish a public event so they can get back to fishing.

1 ReplyIt was fun upto like 3 fishes. The novelty wore off very quickly. It’s boring at hell. If they spent some time and maybe copied some mechanics from SEGA Bass fishing it could have been good.

2 RepliesI gotta say, I love the fishing aspect as well! It isn't super intrusive and/ or a requirement. You passively get bait from every activity. And if you want, you can choose to just go fish for the fun of it. Then if you get lucky fishing, you get a free exotic and upgrade material. If not, you still get Sonar Ranks and legendary drops. The fishing mechanic isn't even that hard compared to some other games. I know it isn't this high stakes fight against the darkness activity, but sometimes it feels nice to just stop and have fun. (I really love fishing anyways)

Well you gotta wait for week 4, 5, and 6. Theirs honestly no reason to fish till week 4 or you are straight up just wasting your time actually.

9 RepliesI don't understand why people enjoy the fishing so much in this game. I mean it is obvious that this is the first and only game they have played that has fishing in it. The fishing mechanics in this game is well basic as all hell. Barely any mechanics. You press one button to throw your line and the same button x-amount of times later to throw the fish out of the water. That is it. After you have thrown the fish out of the water, you will then have to go and collect it. Why it doesn't just go straight into your inventory, i will never know. There is no real skill or mechanic to it. You will get a random fish, no matter what. No special bait or different type of fishing rod, to catch different types and rarities of fish. It all comes down to rng, from the amount of time it takes for a fish to bite to the fish type you get. Public event ending fishing is really dumb, why introduce a new activity and then force us to do the old stuff. There is honestly no reason to why a public event disables fishing. All this comes down to is, press the same button twice and walk up to get your fish. Nothing more nothing less.

I could see fishing in Destiny if it actually had a purpose in the game, but it doesn't, and no people, your personal emotions feelings or whatever about it doesn't have anything to do with poor development and wasting the player base money developing something as lazy as this actually is. There was absolutely no effort put into this at all, no thought process, creativity, absolutely nothing. Just add the basic same BS "RNG" loot you require throughout the entire game. This is a complete waste of time and resources for this game and shows how lost this developer actually is. On top of all this, it's a paywall? WoW! 1, I had to suffer watching a couple of YouTubers trying to sell the "excitement" of fishing in Destiny. I will never put anyone through that kind of torture. 2, This business destroyed what Hawthorne was originally designed for when it comes to clans, and waited all these years just for fishing that will be dead within a couple of months, except for a hand full of players. 3, The fishing is set up like almost everything else in this game when it comes to collecting loot. "RNG" for weapons that will be very short-lived like 90% of the content/loot in this game. You know, because it's too much work to put a little bit of effort into the game to keep at least something relevant 9+ years later. 4, Deliberately putting the tiny ponds next to public events that are set up to stop you from fishing. You know, because it's really hard to push 1 button and let the animation do all the work for you, and can't have you drying up the pond in a video game because the other players need fish too. This is why many won't buy any DLC from this business anymore. They waste your money on useless content when they could be investing it into something that would be actually useful for most of the player base, not just a hand full.

15 RepliesI am going to say this about fishing.. its idiotic in a first person shooter to waste time sitting pressing X every few seconds. There is no amount of skill here at all to catch anything. The meter for focused fishing seems to do nothing and by the time you finally get it up, you have a public event that ruins the effort you put in. I know content is hard but, this is getting ridiculous.

Plant some seed you get from a nightfall event and have a chance of getting a reskined weapon , or maybe a potatoe will grow , its all about the rng . Hours of fun from you lovly looter shooter game. When they get knocked out, 3 shards fall out of their pocket. So I can take their lunch money.
