Pinnacle grind being nerfed hurts newer players and casuals.

As the title states. I have played this game since launch. I was a hardcore player back then, but became more casual about a year ago due to real life time constraints. I am not able to play with others in higher level activities much due to my schedule, so I am relying on the the activities that can be matchmade to grind levels. With the changes to pinnacles this season, I am having an extremely difficult time trying to level. I got lucky and managed to get one character to 1810 before this season started, so I was thinking it wouldn't be so bad to get the other 2 there. This week proved me completely wrong. My Hunter was 1809 7/8, so I just needed one pinnacle to drop as arms. With the limited opportunities to get pinnacles, the chances of this happening were slim, but I thought I might get it all the same. Boy was I wrong. I even managed to lfg a group to play the dungeon, and nothing. I don't know what Bungie was thinking when they decided that giving exotic engrams, that are powerful (on level when above soft cap) instead of pinnacle, was a good idea. I for one am here to state that it is not a good idea at all. Focusing costs entirely too much, and the fact that I just decode them with Rahool and just shred them anyway just makes them even more worthless versus getting a pinnacle drop. I won't even get into my 3rd character and how this has been completely demoralizing and just makes me want to put the game down again and just play something that won't make me feel more fomo than this game already does. Bungie, I love Destiny, but it doesn't love me. This is the end of the rant, but please do something about the pinnacle grind for newer players and casuals that have been here since day one, but can't really play some of the activities.

  • This might be an unpopular opinion, but I'm willing to die on the hill that says the entire reason you play a video game should NOT be "number go up." Especially when "number go up" doesn't even effect the gameplay for you at all. If you aren't doing high level activities, for whatever reason, be it that you can't get people together because of conflicting schedules or you just can't bring yourself to lfg, then you don't need to reach max power level. I remember people saying the same things about how reaching max light level was too hard for casual players back when forsaken dropped. Maybe take a step back from the game for a while and introspect on why you play this game at all. Do you play it to have fun? Or do you play this game because if you don't, content and experiences will pass you by because of the live service model and that stresses you out? Playing a video game should not be stressful, so when you find yourself getting stressed from playing one, it might be time to take a break.
