Cayde is NOT back
Calling it now. That isn’t Cayde. The place where he is is the portal that the Witness opened at the end of Lightfall. And that portal opens up to a secret split alternate dimension created by the Witness where the Traveler and the Light no longer exist, and the characters we see inside are split versions of themselves. Ripped from this timeline and dimension and placed into this one to entice us into coming in and falling for the Witness’ games. That’s why you see all those bright cracks all over Cayde. It’s NOT him.

Much more likely that he's been revived by the Traveler as a familiar face to help us defeat the Witness inside of itself. I doubt he'll be able to leave the Traveler though and might even fade back away once his job is done.

1 ReplyAll I know is I’m tired of getting Memory of Cayde and I don’t play that much. Worthless character, glad he’s dead. People complained about Nimbus but Cayde was infinitely worse cos we had to put up with this supposed humour for four years

12 RepliesHard to see how he made a portal and special dimension that he couldn’t access without his enemy. Too convulsed and requires his enemy to walk into a trap. Whereas going to where the Gardner is hiding is much more neat. And his glowing effects don’t have the taken colors. He’s after the Gardner. In LF the mention of souls came up with Strand. Where would a soul go after the bodies dies? That’s where he is.

I think it's him but he wont be able to leave after the expansion's story concludes. It's basicly just a last adventure and last goodbye.

The traveler is likely a throne world, so when someone who carries the light dies, their soul goes there. Side note: I hope we meet the kell of house stone there.
