Eighter a game gets patched to death
Game comes out broken and it takes weeks/months before it is somewhat playable
It is getting ridicilous expensive
Server crashes
Toxiticy
Pre-order is not worth it anymore
Devs only want money and add huge pay walls even into single player games
Trails not repesending the actuall game
What is needed to fix all the issues? I am completly burned out when it comes to gaming

Pre-order is not worth it anymore
When was it ever worth it?
-
Depends on the devs, personally I play Warframe because there's no mandatory paywall and barely any fomo or Second Extinction (early access and because I got it for free from Epic) where cosmetics are obtained from securing packages in-game or completing contracts

Online PvP has meant less story content and that's what I enjoyed. I think that it will eventually destroy gaming. If I want to hang out with rude people I'll get into politics.

3 RepliesIt's why I started playing older games. Beat the original 4 metroid games and had a great refreshing time (metroid 2 was eh). Metroid dread actually lived up to the older games and in some areas surpassed them...which is quite hard considering how good the older ones are. Now I'm about to start the mario and luigi rpg series because I've never really played the games from the beginning. Who needs new games when a library of fantastic games still exist. No microtransactions, no stupid game breaking patches...its great.

No man's sky is wonderful. Investing in older games is worth the money (or by other means ya know, who wants to pay 400+$ for tomba 2) The only way to gain that nostalgia energy is to grab it by the source

1 ReplyNah I still have a blast playing Mario Kart 64

4 RepliesVideogames industry is facing a crisis due the fact that has become a business in which turn a lot of money. However, we more dedicated videogamers (and customers) have our weapons to defend oursevels. Stop pre-ordering, wait for reviews by trusted sources (expecially when we talk about a live service game) before buying, maybe wait for discounts or buy used copies at lower prices, avoid microtransactions even if just cosmetics, remember that what damages a game more then negative feedback is simply ignore it. Small things but very useful.

1 ReplyI like factory games like Dyson Sphere Program and Satisfactory. Those games are fun and no where near as stressful as Destiny and other shooters. They’re good games when you want to chill. Maybe try some games like that?

Gaming has actually become a lot cheaper since there's lots of competition between the different platforms, games go on sale on a regular basis. I still remember how much Origin charged for Wing Commander when it came out or how much SNES games were... Falcon 3.0 was also effing expensive. MS does offer a game pass. Back then console games would always cost pretty much the same while computer games became noticeably cheaper only if they were really old.

2 RepliesTears of the Kingdom is so good that other devs are telling people to stop playing their game and go play Zelda instead. It's just a reskinned and recycled Breath of the Wild with a few new bells and whistles, but hey, game of the year winner already!
-
It is though. The reasons you listed are very minor. Enjoyability is very high is newer games. You just have to find the right one.
-
Main reason I’ve been playing my SNES and N64 more and more as time goes on. Today’s games seem way too disposable.

Cs is good and made 10s of thousands on skins so is worth it

4 RepliesHogwarts Legacy delivered and didn't arrive broken. I was actually surprised.

Edited by Boss_KADA: 5/14/2023 7:41:14 AMTrue dat. Other than this I did put a dent in my backlog and 100% pile. I think the last new games I got were AC Valhalla and KH Melody of Memory. Still on PS4 too But I know full well what to expect of online games and the grindy ones

Edited by J: 5/14/2023 2:47:50 AMI agree to an extent, after early fortnite (2017-2019) companies just seemingly gave up. There’s nothing new or innovative anymore, just lots of half baked products and micro transactions everywhere with devs that are seemingly detached from their player base. Elden ring being the exception.

1 ReplyI do agree with you on that one, its similar with movies they find a formula that makes money and milk it to death. Everything starts to feel the same and lacks identity. Doesn’t help with PC culture ruining stuff as well But there still are decent games, just have to look. Hogwarts, resi 4, the new zelda is out to

2 RepliesHonestly for me this year I only have 3 games that come to mind and I am interested in getting hogwarts legacy which I finished, gonna get Jedi survivor and ff16 and those probably won’t take me long to finish, Other than that gaming is dead to me for the rest of the year. I do know I need to expand my horizons abit but if a game doesn’t interest me I’m not going to waste my money on it.
-
You are exaggerating, there are plenty of games out there to keep you going I use to be a Destiny main, years ago when the Mercury expansion came out I decided to stop focusing on Destiny and play other game, havent regret it since, so many good games out there to play, and so many more coming

What you don't own a Nintendo?

Gaming is not as ridiculously expensive a hobby as it used to be. You can make it expensive, sure, but barrier for entry is not at record highs by any means. Just look up some video game prices 20-30 years ago and pop that into an inflation calculator. The PlayStation was a near $600 console in today’s money with games costing over $90 in today’s money for a standard edition copy. Super Mario 64 cost over $100 is todays money. In the late 90s it was hard to even buy a computer for less than $1k, which would be $1800 minimum today, let alone for a PC capable of playing 3D games. Renting a game at Blockbuster for the weekend cost nearly as much in today’s money as an entire month of GamePass. Games also go on sale far faster than they ever used to (except Nintendo) And the Indy game scene is full of games $20 or less.
