Vexcalibur Catalyst too hard on legendary

I’ve tried so many times to get a legendary completion and it’s incredibly hard with a fire team even. Still haven’t done it. Please Bungie take off the limited deaths on this. I just want the catalyst. Why so difficult? Anyone finding this too tough. I’m a destiny vanilla player and I think it’s overdone on difficulty!!

  • I never really tried because the basic difficulty solo was already way harder than the seraph's season exotic mission... I gave it a shot tonight with two guys, both really good players, xonqueror/flawless lvl 1828-33, and we couldn't pass the first hydra boss in 2 HOURS. it's so -blam!- hard, I just wish some idiot at bungie will look at the numbers, realize something like 1% of players have only one catalyst, an consider toning WAY down the difficulty are at least allow unlimited revives. what the hell happened with the difficulty ??? I understand that some players did some whining claiming the game was too easy on endgame content, but this is just stupid hard since they tweak things all around NF/exotic missions/campaign difficult and whatever during last season. what's the plan, this isn't how you keep your player base, bungie.

  • Avalon's difficulty imo is fine as is. Its just challenging enough. it testst your builds. If done propperly you really shouldnt have a issue. Maybe a part of it is team comp as well. My easiest run had 2 warlocks and a hunter. Imo its about time a exotic required some real effort. Imean you already got the base exotic, basicly for free. Imo it should be difficult to obtain the abillity to make the most out of it through crafting.

  • I did it once as solo ….just tedious with the disconnects and error codes . Never gone back !

    • At least 2 Phoenix protocol wells will save. Proc volatile and you should be safer

      • I used a void smg and lmg for the first parts of it, then switched back and forth from riskrunner and a void secondary for the motes, and then stuck with risk runner for the final boss phases.

      • Not an easy mission, but do-able with a team that is 1) focused 2) understands basic build craffing 3) understands build team synergy Solo isn't bad either if you're above average in skill with the right build for survivability

        • Hit me up and i'll help ya out. I've done for all 3 for myself and all 3 for a friend. Also, if you use a chair emotw where ypu character sits ypu can use it in the mote encounter to hide from wyverns while u jump in the pit.

        • They could possible make it a bit easier for solo players but it is suppose to be challenging. Too easy and it takes away the challenge for those that like one.

            • A Blinding Grenade Launcher, Arc primary and whatever Void heavy weapon you want (preferably machine gun or rocket) along with at least one Stasis Warlock is all you need. [b]For a much easier time, put on the "Picking up an orb heals you" mod on your leg piece, it cost 1 energy and shields will be popping the whole time.[/b] -This season, "Favors" can be created by getting rapid kills with abilities, Special or Heavy weapons. The one created from Heavy kills is a grenade cooldown bonus, which allows the Warlock to throw Ice Turrets all over the place for the onslaught part of the mission. On top of that, one of the seasonal mod adds a chance to create Heavy for everyone whenever a yellow health bar is killed with Void weapons to help keep the Favors flowing. -For the Hydra, jump up to the side of the boss's shield tube that has cover and [b]do not kill the mote holders[/b]. Give them time to approach while dealing with the snipers and nuke them all at once for the fastest 0-to-100 mote gathering. Not having to worry about missed leftovers makes dealing with the chickens much less worrysome, but you can fire a few blinding grenades to keep them out of the fight too. Once it enters the field, you can reuse the same spot to take it down. If you ever need orbs for Supers, pop one of the Harpy army's Arc shield with a matching element to create an orb for each shield popped (since they're so close together, it'll fill the feed with orb creation text). Super energy will both be received from dealing chunky chain-shield-popping damage and by picking up the orbs created. -Round 1: The Hobgoblin boss will move counter-clockwise until it has received big ouch, which will make it move and camp its spawn point. The cover of his next stop will fade away, so the safest bet is to go to whatever side the boss used last instead of getting ahead of him. Blinding grenades will disable chickens and yellow bar minotaurs just fine. -Round 2: There are only two spots you need to remember: where you just landed/arrived and the area right under the boss where the chickens spawn. Take down the chickens from where you arrived and then make your way toward where the chickens spawned. If you hug that wall, the Cyclops and the boss won't have an angle on you as you deal with the Hydra/code/Arc shield Harpies. Popping their shield is enough to prevent them from going in pewpew mode, but blinding grenades works here too. Hit the boss from there and fall back to the area you landed/arrived at before the chickens respawn and repeat the whole thing. -Round 3: Use one of the waterfall "pillar" as solid cover between you and the full auto aimbot sniper. That's pretty much it. [spoiler]TL,DR: "Take orb to be healed" leg mod, "Kill yellow bar with Void gun to make party Heavy" + "Pop matching shield to make orb" seasonal mod. Void heavy, Arc primary. 1+ Ice Warlock. -Heavy kill drop Ice Turret refresh power ups. Spam Ice Turrets. -Lure mote bearers toward your safe spot next to shield tube rather than chase them around. Arc shield pop for Supers. -Use cover where boss was previously. -Clap chickens from entrance, run to and hug wall under boss while you clap the rest. -Waterfall bulletproof cover.[/spoiler]
