Otherwise, the season pass effectively costs $15, since that's the minimum you need to spend in order to get the season pass. It's not an increase in cost of 20% for consumers, it's an increase of 50%.
Edited to correct numbers.

3 RepliesPreface: I obviously don't want to pay more. This is not a defense of a price hike, but you have to understand how dumb the title of this post is, right? lol Like the point is them charging us more money.... Why would they then turn around and lower the price of silver so they'd effectively be charging us the same amount of money....? Again, I don't want an increase at all, but they're obviously not going to increase the silver cost for a season and then lower the price of silver so that the cost is effectively the same as it is now... This seems incredibly obvious.

1 ReplyCould be worse...you could be paying 15 a month just to play.
-
1 ReplyUsing this intermediary silver currency is a shabby and aggressive business practice. Do you know if they reimburse people for unspent silver? This would help address an aspect of this shabby practice, as I suspect they just keep this unused silver attached to closed accounts.

I was already done with this game prior to this change but now they've guaranteed others will follow lol.

4 RepliesIt's a scumbag move on Bungie's part. No 2 ways about it. What makes it even worse is every silver bundle is short 100 silver for the respective amount of seasons. The $10 bundle only gives you 1100. Not enough for 1 season The $20 bundle only gives you 2300 not enough for 2 seasons The $30 bundle only gives you 3500 not enough for 3 seasons. But hey, the $50 bundle gives you 6000 silver, enough for 5 seasons.

1 ReplyOh boy I didn't know inflation affected VIRTUAL CURRENCY. I'm so sick and tired of this, man. What happened??? :(

59 RepliesSo how bout I defend a little truth. It won't be popular. And it's only going to seem like defending Bungie because to some people pointing out facts that don't support their anti-Bungie narrative is the same as defending Bungie. The use of logic seems to offend them. Take a look around. Things cost more than they used to. Inflation sucks but there it is. The cost of doing business has risen. And Bungie is a business. They've got hundreds of employees, physical and technological infrastructure, and third-party services to pay for. Everything costs more than it used to. It's just a fact. No money - no game. Bungie is not alone when it comes to increasing costs. The whole video game industry is effected. Here's why... https://www.ign.com/articles/pay-more-to-play-why-video-game-prices-could-rise-in-2023 In the end it comes down to perceived value. Is it worth the cost to play? That's up to the individual. Is a couple more dollars every three months too much to pay when you consider the problems with the game? Maybe. But there are reasons video game companies are raising prices and any rational decision should take that into consideration. .

IMO if that's the case then add more Bright Dust Bungie since you brought the price up lol

19 RepliesYour numbers are still horribly wrong my guy Here let me help you 10$ for 1100 silver 5$ for 500 1600(15$)-1200=400 Take this 400 divided it in 2 and now you have the extra 200 for the rest of the year Don't drop out of school
-
1 ReplyI understand prices being raised is concerning but the fact that there is no 1200 silver purchase is an issue because you are forced to pay the $20 silver just to buy the season
-
You can keep it at $10 for the next 5 seasons if buy the 5000 silver bundle. You get an extra 1000 from it, but obviously the bulk amount is problematic
-
1 ReplySo let me get this straight, just about the entire expansion/season content has been very poor quality work that was literally pushed out the door broken and they knew it but pushed it out anyways knowing they had years to work on it, and they decided they have done such a "good job" that they deserve to have that increase for lazy uninspiring work that is literally throw-away content? 😂🤦♂️

1 ReplyIt's not an issue that the price of DLCs has gone up, the issue is that you can't buy them directly for $12, instead needing to buy a $15 bundle for 1700 Silver. Is this change going to affect most Destiny players negatively? No, the truth of the matter is most avid Destiny players either buy the Deluxe edition or have some sort of stockpile of silver because they are buying things such as DLC content on a somewhat regular basis. The people this change hurts the most is players that want to try out a Season that are newer to the game, this change is literally a slap in the face to them. For people complaining that the price is going up $2, sorry, inflation is a real thing. If you are struggling to get your next Destiny DLC, you may want to manage your money a bit better.

9 RepliesEdited by An Engram Full Of Bees: 5/4/2023 8:46:48 PMIt’s even worse than you think. Bumping it up to 1200 silver means players have to spend $15. After buying the season pass, that leaves players with 300 silver. Which isn’t really enough to buy anything worthwhile. So to make use of the leftover silver, you actually have to spend at least another $5 to get anything decent from the eververse store (assuming you don’t have any silver in your account already). From a marketing standpoint, this is to rope in players who have never bought silver before and to get them hooked on the game’s microtransactions. Pretty genius move by the rats at Bungie HQ.

That or they will do what they did this season and have a $15 bundle with emote and silver (1000 with 800 bonus)
-
1 Replywow, 15$ for 1 season... i like the
crafting a compelling Seasonal experience
part..because we all know that a load of Horse ####. so 5 more $ for ###?

2 RepliesSuch a deliberate predatory practice. You can buy 1000 (+100) silver…… or pay for 2000 (plus bonus) and then have a bunch sitting around. Scum. Absolutely deliberate predatory scum Bungie.

3 RepliesWow. Trash move by a trash company. Never saw that one coming. 🤣

7 RepliesEdited by Taejzon23: 5/5/2023 11:45:15 AMThis is a VERY SCUMMY MOVE. So, you're "selling" Titan back to us in the new season, AGAIN? AND increasing the cost? Your practices are beyond predatory at this point. I can get with SOME reskins, but to vault content and constantly sell it back to us? Because you know New Lights haven't experienced this? Very scummy move, Bungie. Very. This is just my opinion only. Edit...AND YOU JUST WON 12 MILLION IN A CASE?? Talk about greed. This season was ALREADY a buggy mess. Filled with issues. And you DOUBLE DOWN by increasing the price? Wow, just wow.

1 ReplyAnd if you think buying deluxe will avoid it, just remember deluxe price raised from $59.99 for shadowkeep, to $69.99 for beyond light, to $79.99 for witch queen, to $99.99 for lightfall

The moment you join those of us who got really tired of these things and stop giving them money things might change. I am not holding out much hope with the worst year ever made brought them the biggest cash rewards. That will sure show them....

Edited to correct numbers.
Premium game currency is priced in a predatory way in most video games that have premium currencies. Silver should just be removed and replaced with the actual price tags. It would be one thing if you could earn silver in game somehow, but you can’t. Silver only exists to create a psychological separation between spending virtual currency and spending real money. There’s a reason why the bundles don’t line up with cost for most items. It’s a disgusting practice.
