Literally everything that should be in the game is in one way or another being provided, free of charge, by independant players. That isn't great.
Where do you go for actual information on how perks, skills, weapons, exotics, mechanics etc actually work? Any other game, it's right there in the tool tip. "This perk does this by this ammount when this happens."
Where do you have to go for all that information in Destiny? Light GG. Most of their information having been reversed engineered by exhaustive testing. When bungie could have just told them. But no it's all a ****ing secret.
Where do you go if you want to know what rotators are up today or this week? Anywhere else, all that info is right on games web page or in the game itself.
Where do you have to go for Destiny? Thisweekindestiny.com
How do you manage your inventory? Well in fairness, normal games aren't a horders paradise like Destiny is, but Bungie originally created an inventory management system where you could move things in and out of your vault on the fly, some of you day one players may remember it. It was awful.
So how do you manage your inventory now? By any of the available inventory and loadout builder apps.
Where do you go if you want to find out if Incursion is about to happen so you don't have to sit on your hands all day in neomuna with both thumbs lodged up your...
Well any other game you would get a world anouncement that something major is about to happen in the area. Any "other" mmo, you would get a world or area announcement. (Destiny is not an MMO, no matter how much some of you want to pretend it is one, it as never been one, and will never be one.) But in Destiny you have to go join a bot server so that it will tell you when the thing is about to go live...
With about a 4 minute warning. A global prompt that "super special thing is about to happen" 15 minutes ahead of time gives peple a chance to finish what they are doing instead of bailing on people mid event. The way they're doing it now you basically insentivize people to drop out of active events.
No other game I can think of offloads this much of the actual game onto unpaid third parties. Okay some trading simulators like Elite Dangerous: Space Truck 3000, or most MMOs will have websites that track markets, that's kinda hard to cram into a game anyyway. But most of the issues above could and should be handled in house.

Now most have accepted this as the normal ……same with new releases Star Wars and red fall …..most just accept and expect the game to get fixed . Bungie don’t care they have enough people hooked . We reinforce the companies ….they would have to be a drastic revolt against Bungie ….it’ll never happen🤷🏼♂️

Bungo has gotten incredibly lazy since the Acti split. The inventory part especially rings true. I won’t even play if the API is down. They really half @ssed it and expected the community to compensate for it

1 ReplyYep. Literally any third developers app is better then bungie did.

Its this whole integration thing. I get they need to conserve what they can for space, working on a pretty outdated system with very limited adaptation room, but everyone feels like they need to overcomplicate everything with a bunch of different apps. It ruins gaming. I know there are things I don't know here, I am not a dev, but there is alot of common sense knowledge that can be applied that would help decision making. I don't feel like they should really be trying to integrate phone applications to do things that can be done in game, its a waste of time, resources, and smart thinking. Its completely distracting, and heavily detracts from the experience. I get they're helpful, and can take a load off of the system, but if they were that worried about space, this project shouldn't have been pursued, at least ongoing as it is. It is frustrating having to look up basic information from outside sources, for in game events, vendors and inventories. Another good example; Xur can't be marked on the map each weekend so we can just go there? He's only in one of three places, but wait! We have Eternity, so why is Xur even in two places simultaneously? Why not just have us go to Eternity to meet with him? There we go, just saved some extra unnecessary coding. These small things add up, and though we do get notifications on the bottom left for alot of incoming special enemies, its just too easy to miss the ones that do show because they build everything to be so extreme and involved, with so many effects, that we just can't pay attention to messages in the system without it being a detriment to us. Maybe that's in part why they didn't add as much, just trying to minimize the need, but we need that information somehow. Sounds are great for it, and a good forewarning, like you mentioned. Its just ridiculous how so much of the stuff in here is kept under a veil of secrecy. I appreciate a good secret, keyword GOOD secret, or a good few secrets, but they abuse it so badly. It doesn't help us stay connected to the in-game world. It doesn't make us curious enough to explore, it does the complete opposite. It keeps distracting us and taking us out of that flow, having to find so many things on separate apps. It makes alot of this game jarring and completely disconnected. We lose the wonder of curiosity and it becomes some tedious chore we just want to finish because of that lack of info. It really ruins the experience its supposed to be.

6 RepliesTo target the idea of the community doing bungie’s job for them, yeah that’s like every gaming community out there. You think WOW or FFXIV have super duper in depth guides on how to make the strongest built character from level 1? No but a player of those games probably made a YouTube guide on how to do it. Jagex probably didn’t tell people the fact that they can manipulate OSRS and essentially chop a try down in 2 seconds. People discover mechanics, bugs, exploits and how they all act with one another, then record that information and give it to us. It’s never been a developers job to present you they finer tuned systems of a game. They expect you to figure it out through play time or just go look up a video

You missed 2 key points I feel. First the few ingame tool tips and descriptions can often be intentionally deceitful & predatory. An example of deceit would be the ingame tool tip for mobility, it does none of the things it actually says. An example of predatory practices would be the previous tool tip for lost sectors listed exotics as uncommon. The second point is the players are the testers for many mechanics and game play balance. When Joe Blackburn was asked about the players being the testers in a recent interview he referred to it & I quote "secret sauce".

If they had to do this how much less content could they possible provide to resource it?
-
Tons of other games are like this because it would make no sense to add something in that someone already made

3 RepliesAbsolutely, how often does a weapon's performance not match its stats! A hand cannon having the same impact and range as a sniper? A grenade launcher having more "blast radius" that a rocket launcher, yet the actual numbers are much lower? This game is a trainwreck. That's why I wont touch it during the guardian games.
-
2 RepliesYeah, you should be able to check a weapons perk pool in collections , among other things, just because everyone is walking around with mini PCs , doesn't give you an excuse not to put vital information in the game Bungie relies way too much on independent 3rd party developers to connect the dots for them

1 ReplyI remember the days when LFG didn't exist on the destiny app and you needed to find some obscure LFG app. Who else remembers this from D1?
-
1 ReplyHey, don't forget Stat trackers like Raid Report, Strike Report, Dungeon Report, GM Report, and D2 Tracker.

Edited by Gibbon, the Ape Defector: 5/1/2023 10:42:47 PMWell I guess Bungie owes you an apology for creating a game that requires a lot of thinking. Get over yourself; the game does not rely on third-parties to function.
