Why does this thing still exist in game? It serves pretty much no PvE purpose and only represents a skill-less gimmick to get player kills without having to work for them.
The absurd tracking and the near infinite range of this thing especially coupled with hacking tools like Cronus/Xim makes it the go-to weapon for cheaters/griefers who love using it to ruin other player’s experiences. I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve been one shot by this ridiculous gimmick even when I saw it coming from across the map and was actively attempting to dodge to no avail.
I don’t like sniper rifles much either, but at least that actually requires careful targeting and you can still fight it. By comparison, a Jotun user can just jump in the air, quickly hover over someone and get a kill with a modicum of effort.
It’s just lazy and in my personal opinion doesn’t belong in something that’s supposed to be about skill-based play. If the developers don’t want to get rid of it outright, they should at the very least retool it to have a damage drop off the further away it’s used so it can’t be abused to get lazy one-shots from across the map.
It’s not a rocket launcher and it shouldn’t behave like one.

Every now and then a post complaining about Jotunn tracking pops up. I’m convinced this is caused by lag (similar to getting shot after ducking behind cover) players dodging, but somehow still getting hit. I’ve had it happen to me a couple of times. Jotunn is easy to dodge in normal play, especially from across the map. My advice is to embrace the space magic! That includes all the crazy weapons and abilities.
