Just out of curiosity if anyone else on this app has Tinnitus, since I sometimes feel alone on the issue. Been dealing with this since early 2022 unfortunately.

The most common disability for veterans. I've got a 10% disability rating because of it. I basically ignore it most of the time. The one thing that bugs me is when I go outside and can't hear the quiet.

Yup. Tinnitus and migraines are two perks the Army never talks about.

1 ReplyI have severe hearing loss in my right ear and mild hearing loss in my left ear. I do indeed have tinnitus, mostly I don't notice it unless I get in my car or a quiet room and sit there for a few minutes, its a constant roaring/ringing sensation almost like a life support went flatline. It is a slight irritation, but I accept it as my new normal. Not sure if its related, my right ear will start ringing loudly and out of nowhere as if somebody dropped something...

I’ve dealt with inner ear issues forever. Tinnitus is just a part of life now, it doesn’t bother me much. On top of my medical issues, years of overexposure to engine noise and loud music has definitely played a role. I learned a long time ago that if it’s bothering me, I need to find a distraction. Easier said than done, but it’s a good habit to practice.

I have it. I don’t always notice it, but when I do, I wanna die. I’ve had it for the past 5 years I think

Faint. Would be worse if I didn’t always wear my PPE on the flight line.

1 ReplyI have it a bit in my right ear. Many in my family have it, and isn't really all that uncommon from what I've heard from others.

1 ReplyI don’t. My husband does but it’s due to many years in the military without ear protection for a lot of his career. I just have to have tubes in my ears in order to hear 100% or else everything is muffled and there’s tons of pressure on my eardrums.

This is like one of those things for me like a deathly peanut allergy or lactose intolerance where I can’t really comprehend it so I have no choice but to make fun of it.
haha get eeeeeeeeeeeeeeee’d nerd
Yep. Have a freight train permanently running past my head. When it gets really bad, when something matches the pitch it rings at (like most sirens), or when pressure changes quickly, it comes with vertigo instances that can completely floor me. 1/10. Would not tinnitus again.

So up until just now, I thought that tinnitus was exclusively that random ringing that you hear for 5 seconds that then goes away. And I thought that the faint yet constant sound that never goes away was just ambient noise: like cars ten miles away driving around.
-
I don’t think I have been diagnosed with it. But I think I have it. Because I hear this constant buzzing noise that get deafening if it gets worse enough. Listening to music or something helps it but I do think I have it.
-
Yep, but it’s pretty mild. I don’t notice it most of the time.
-
I get it but not constantly. I work in an industry where i am surrounded by constant machine noises. Even with earcans it annoying. I also listen to music WAY too loud. As a result i get a slight ringing in my ears from time to time.

I have a really rare medical condition (like super so rare that they couldn't diagnose it at the nearest hospital) and I've met people who have it
