I know this is a little late but what happened to the wall? Last I checked there was a huge whole in it, And what about all the SIVA that was just sitting around a few years ago I know we destroyed the replication chamber but it should still be around right?

1 ReplySiva is never coming back my guy it’s story was wrapped up in rise of iron

I always just assumed Bungie forgot/ignored Rise of Iron, considering that we spent that entire expansion helping out Saladin and then when you meet him for the first time in D2 he just treats you like a nobody he's never met before, lol. Was cool when we got the Cosmodrome back with the new lost sectors, but it still baffles me we couldn't have the Rocketyard on patrol.

4 RepliesTo put it simple, when D2 was in development and then was launched, Bungie decided that the Cosmodrome was no more. So lore wise we should only know that it was blocked in quarantine for the SIVA and that's it. However, with the "New Light" F2P intro, they reused the Cosmodrome and the D1 intro to the game -surely in order to save money by using old recycled contents- and magically we had the Cosmodrome back as it was before the SIVA Crisis. It was a a sort of very big, bad retcon escamotage thing... in reality, the Cosmodrome should be still completely closed/blocked because of what was remained of the SIVA.

That was just handwaved away, along with the Plaguelands.

17 RepliesEdited by AsthenicKarma74: 4/26/2023 5:47:13 PMIf I remember correctly from the way the new lore is written, the Plaguelands is off limits mostly due to radiation issues. Turns out, radiation poisoning continues on a guardian, even after being rezzed, making them a walking hazard. As for SIVA itself, it shouldn't be a problem anymore. The only two groups that had control over it were House Devils and Rasputin. Rasputin is "deleted" (still calling BS on that one. He's a program, and data doesn't just completely wipe because you deleted it. There's always remaining data on drives and memory sticks.). As for the Splicers, House Devils disbanded. Most joined House Dusk or Salvation, some were killed and became Scorn, and some just went back to pirating. Why there's no Devil Splicers, who knows? If anything, we could see SIVA return as a tool in the future. I could see Mithraax finding some way to properly use it. He is a Splicer after all. As for the wall, the lore's written in real time for the most part. However long we had between when we killed Aksis and the start of D2 is how long we had between events in the game, so roughly a year before the Cabal invasion. I'd say that's enough time for a futuristic city full of paracausal soldiers to patch a hole in a wall.

Wall = retcon

Siva were stronger than cabal and those mofos still run around..

Edited by Rainbine 9545: 4/26/2023 10:52:48 AMCause rise of iron was retconned into the ground cause most of it was activisions work (I think) but it also damages most of the game as well They went “hey we basically deleted the start of destiny 2, what do we do” “Err throw the start of destiny into the game and call it a day” They even use the old voice lines from destiny 1 content But this is my biggest issue, it ruined the story of destiny 2, instead of trying to make a destiny 3 like a logically company, they keep repainting destiny 2 and saying it’s in perfect shape and everything We don’t have a start as well, we are straight up put into the middle of a story without any knowledge what happened to get here in the story, character deaths don’t mean anything cause they don’t know them, their achievements mean nothing, everything is pointless unless you were here at the start.

1 ReplyShame they have no plans to bring anything to do with Siva back

The Plaguelands are restricted, but like we care what Zavala says anyway, we go where we want to

Edited by Super Shadow 99: 4/24/2023 3:34:58 PMThe cosmodrome is in a weird time stasis right before Rise of Iron so that the New Light quest line is somewhat similar to the Destiny 1 campaign into. Bungie worded it something similar to that a while ago when they introduced it during Beyond Light. I could be wrong entirely and my memory fails me.

1 ReplyEdited by YaTEdiGo: 4/24/2023 12:52:33 PMBungie dont care, ROI was a DLC made I bet when D2 was in development so… is like is not even “canon” and its partially a reason for why we never got SIVA powers and not much more than some exotics etc.
-
The architects magically repaired it and siva was like blown up in that bunker during the final mission in ROI?
-
4 RepliesYeah, I don't think it's ever been mentioned what happened. All we know is that the Cosmodrome was quarantined for a few years after RoI. My best guess is that the Vanguard removed and destroyed the SIVA present in the Cosmodrome and Plaguelands
