Barrier champions need to take a certain amount of damage, then they will put up a shield and will begin to regen health in the shield. To stun them you need break the shield before it goes away and they fully regen their health. With artifact mods pulse rifles and side arms are anti barrier. There are handful of exotic weapons that have anti barrier built into them.

I use a suspend grenade with most champions and go to town with a heavy MG or a Glaive. It works wonders when they’re dangling. If you’re using a weapon it’s about timing the shield.
