Solo trials matchmaking is pathetic

If Bungie’s goal is to turn people away from the game mode by outweighing one team with skill, it’s working. Non pvp main, 5 win confidence card, having my best week in trials, get an impossible match against 3 hunters running adept immortals while my teammates sprinted to their death within the first 10 seconds of every round. I’m done for a bit. Another 3 year break is sounding better every time I play this game.

  • The reason why trials matchmaking feels so rough sometimes is due to the poor lobby balancing of non fireteam players. Unless you're in a team of people who you regularly play with, and play well with, you're either going to be the one doing the carrying (unsuccessfully unless you're highly skilled and can regularly pull off 1v3 clutches due to team mates that repeat the same mistakes each round) or you are the carry. Lobby balancing is an issue across all PvP modes, Bungie has admitted this already, but it's highlighted in trials because of the type of game mode it is. If you go in solo, you're playing roulette with who you get matched with. Sometimes it works in your favour, sometimes not. I'm all for the announced changes to Trials matchmaking and interested to see how they work next weekend, but they need to get the lobby balancing right otherwise matchamking, as much improved as it is with the introduction of fireteam based matchmaking, will still have signifant issues.
