I seriously hate Guardian ranks. I hate them so much.
What's the point to having ranks in general if they mean nothing in terms of skill and experience? And the fact that the objectives you need to do in order to advance to the next rank are way to damn complicated to do. I hate that I keep seeing everyone achieved rank 11 already while I had to suffer so much just to make any progress to rank 7. It's all an insult. An insult to everything I worked my butt of to get to this point in the game, and an insult that I can't get make progress on these objectives while everyone else laughs at me for achieving what I can't get. I don't know who was responsible for making the Guardian ranks in the first place, but I hate them, and the ranks themselves. I hate them, I hate them, I hate them, I hate them, I HATE THEM.
I can't look at Destiny the same way again because of this -blam!-. It's nothing but an insult, you all know it.

The intent of Guardian Ranks is to give players clearer goals for what to strive for next. There are plenty of players that look at Destiny and don't know what they should be doing, or what to work on. Guardian Ranks does that, but also pushes you with each rank to be better at the game. It doesn't matter if others are faster at reaching rank 11 then you, some people don't have the time to play like that, and that's fine. However, you admitting that it was a "struggle" to reach rank 7...that presents a different reality of what your rank says about you. If I play with a group of rank 11s, then I know there's no excuse for sloppy performance, and we'll get the job done. Versus if I play with rank 6 players this late in the season, I can easily read them like a book they either don't play enough or are not skilled enough to expect hard activities in question to be smooth. I know what I'm getting myself into based on your rank. Now, that doesn't mean low rank players aren't good or skilled at the game, if they never focus on ranking up in the first place. But for those who take the time to prove their title, yeah, they are the dedicated hardcore players that solo dungeons, that sherpa raids, that gild Conqueror. They know how to play the game with optimal builds. My take on Guardian Ranks, is go at your own pace. When you hit a rank that feels like a wall for you, then congrats, you know where you need to improve and work on. Yes, you are gonna have to run dungeons and raids. Yes, you will need to run Grand Masters. Yes, you will need titles. Yes, you will need to solo Lost Sectors. These are expectations the game has for you, and for some people that may seem impossible to do. At the end of the day, use it as a guideline of what to work on

7 RepliesI don’t hate them, I just don’t care about them. I’ll never get past rank 7, as I don’t do the raids. It’s not I can’t do a raid, I’m a perfectly competent player. I just can’t be bothered to spend that much time in a single activity in this game. I do some dungeons and not others. I guess I do my best to play my way and accept the ‘consequences’ of that. Plus, if you don’t want to play with me because I’m only rank 7, that’s up to you, plenty of other folks don’t care. This is a game that is supposed to be fun for you. Don’t let artificial ‘look how good I am’ ranking systems stress you out.

Like specifically where do you feel the contention is? When I checked your stuff it looks like you haven’t done the legendary campaign, the nightfalls, root of nightmares, or the legendary seasonal activity.

If you hate it you can skip it. It is not mandatory. Just give em and get em I personally like the led the team offense commendation. Makes me feel like a million dollars.

Guardian ranks means nothing. They were just added to give people something to do. Most of the challenges were just, do the things that you normally do. Most of these are even retroactive. So if you have done them before you don't have to do them again. Don't let this new thing ruin your enjoyment of the game. It is just a number.

Do they mean nothing in terms of skill and experience or are they too complicated? It's just an engagement meter. Higher ranks have done most everything, lower ranks don't or can't. I think the system has flaws for sure and there's a ton of objectives I didn't like but it was nice having a checklist of stuff to do if I wanted to bother. Like gilding conqueror again, I wouldn't have done that without a reason to. It's just supposed to push you a little out of your comfort zone, and to engage with everything the game has to offer, without punishing you for not doing so if you don't want to. There's no loot, just bragging rights, this is a good thing. Imagine if they put gear behind each rank?

3 RepliesThe ranks are indicative of skill in some fashoins I believe 7 to 8 you need a legend lost sector solo flawless, if that is to hard and you can't achieve rank 8 then you are right where you need to be signaling you are a casual. That's OK not everyone is gonna be doing solo dungeons and master raids, you are also not seeing everyone hit 11 left and right lol. Most of the people are waiting for the two achieves for master raid and solo dungeon to be retroactive on tuesday.

I can't understand the overdramatic hate? Yah can just ignore em since they're worthless. It is annoying that they put effort into making essentially a worse title system. Manpower and resources should've gone elsewhere

Guardian Ranks are a way to soft sell content. That's literally their entire purpose. You can't complete them without buying previous and future content.

I think this and commendations are completely worthless. It doesn't mean anything in the grand scheme of it all, and it will be reset soon. I'm perfectly content staying a 7, because I don't care to redo things I've already done, or no life a game to the point it feels like a job I'm not getting paid for, or makes me want to stop playing. I do certain activities mainly because I love the friends I play with, and want to help them. I would love to raid, but my experience with LFG as a female gamer has not been the best, and some clans like to only play with the same 6 people every time, leaving out everyone else. Therefore, I won't progress. But I'm cool, cause I get to do random things and have fun instead of feeling like I have to be serious and not let people down if I mess up.

If they didn't reset every season I put a bit more effort into it. Attained 7 and most of 8, just not into raid and dungeons, the latter is on me though.
