I have a lot of fun playing this game, but it feels far too bloated for anyone with a life to fully enjoy.
Between the: seasonal playlist, terminal overload, pinnacles, dungeons, normal raids, master raids, dates of eternity, nightfalls, grandmaster nightfalls, crucible pinnacle, gambit pinnacle, lost sectors, iron banner, Trials of Osiris, and any in game events- how is it possible for a normal, casual player to chase many of these weapons and gear? I have maybe, maybe 30 minutes per day to play the game.
Normal raids are locked behind 1)time spent finding a fireteam and 2) time spent completing the raid. I played for four straight hours one day to only make it halfway through 1 raid- and there are multiple raids. Precious limited upgrade materials and the better weapons are hidden behind harder content that take even longer. Dungeons? Same issue for those and higher difficulty seasonal playlists and Dares.
All of this makes it far too difficult to choose an activity to pursue. I really want to chase a Trust god roll, but I have to do my pinnacles first. I really want to chase a crafted bxr, but that takes so long. I want to play with more than 1 character, but changing mains means redoing all my work from weeks of playing. I have a baby on the way, a wife to care for, a full time job, and my personal health to take care of. When I do have time to game, I have to hope that maybe this time I get lucky to get a deepsight weapon I need or a good roll to drop. I completed all my pinnacles last week and got 4 helmets, same light level, in a row. No progress for my time that week. It’s frustrating.
Potential solution: A wondertrade option similar to Pokémon for weapons and armor, a trading forum or auction using in game materials to purchase rolls of weapons and armor offered by players, or you can even go full Sith Lord and sell god rolled weapons and armor for silver. Anything is better than the time sink it takes to pursue loot across the bloated activities in this game.

1 ReplyIf you only have 30 minutes per day to play Destiny, that's like 2 strikes a day. I don't think Destiny is the game for you. You will never be able to raid if you can only give the game 30 minutes. Same thing for dungeons. Raid completion time will vary on the fire team and the objectives. If it's a teaching run, expect to set aside 4 hours for a raid to ensure everyone understands the mechanics as there will be multiple wipes. The fastest raid you can probably do is VoG but it sounds like you'll need to be taught that raid, and you can't do that in 30 minutes. You can't put 30 minutes a day into Destiny and expect to get everything done. You will miss out on dungeons and raids primarily. I would suggest you move to a different game, like Halo Infinite, where you can play couple of games a day and not worry about FOMO.

Ngl man if you were able to do it all at once you would hate it too. The content would then become dry and boring with no well to draw from.
-
Yeah too much nowadays, even increasing the number of strikes you have to do now is like bleh! Better to play anything else at this point.
-
They should remove Gambit and add more PvP maps.

With 30 mins a day to play the game isn’t really for you

for a new player have a lot of things to do is a GOOD thing , what the hell are you smoking

1 ReplyEdited by Mara Sov’s Step Bro: 4/13/2023 8:57:25 PMThe only thing trading would lead to would be people selling gear for real money and nobody wants Pay to Win. No. You’re playing an RNG based looter MMORPG-lite. If you don’t have time for that you should look into a different genre. This is like asking for Lord of the Rings to be condensed down to 30 minutes because you don’t have time to watch the whole thing. Stick to TikTok and sitcoms. Aside from that you can look into some Korean games. They have a different gaming culture.

3 RepliesYou're complaining that there's way to much content and gear? Am I getting that right?
-
Meh, it's doable. You don't have to do everything. Play what you enjoy and who cares if you don't get that one pinnacle from gambit or whatever
-
4 RepliesI'm almost the exact opposite to you. There is almost nothing of interest bar raids to do. Oh well, I guess I'll level another weapon.. what fun.

I used to have the same problem, too many responsibilities and very little free time, I would get up two hrs early before work to play because it was the only time I could get. The game having so much to do is actually a good thing, you can always find something to do or chase. Once you get over the need to have everything right away it’ll get much better for you, for most stuff you have at least a yr to grind for it. I get it, it sucks seeing ppl with all the cool weapons and armour you want but you just don’t have the time, but it gets better, before you know the kids are living on their own and you have free time coming out the -blam!-… it’s nice :) Just concentrate on getting one thing you want and don’t worry about how long it takes, you’ll get it and then move on to the next thing. Eventually you’ll realize that yes it might take you a while but you always have something to do when you have some free time, instead of staring at the destination screen going “ what now” like many of us are right now lol And on a positive note, no light lvl increase next season so you really have no rush on getting to pinnacle lvl, not that it helps much this season anyway lol.

No to trading.

1 ReplyIf you only got 30mins a day to game, Destiny isn't for you. . It's one of the least time friendly games in existence, given how "Light Cap" is just a "Time-Gate" used to propel play time and thus inflate player numbers at any given time so that Bungo's Shareholders don't bail. .

Casual players were patched out this expansion.

2 RepliesI feel ya. I only have time to play once a week for a few hours and its a grind. I dont expect to get anything out of the game anymore. If I go for a gun or piece of gear its one that I can grind for easily like Autumn Wind or the Iron banner helmet. I still play with friends here and there but i know I wont be able to do raids or anything like that for the time being. One thing I have done is switch up some of the games I play. Ive been playing Halo Infinite which I love, and its easy to play a few matches and then get off. I also do Elden Ring I did start playing it in my last year of college so I got a lot of what I wanted then, now I can just hop on and try a few rounds with a boss or go and start exploring a new area. Or I play a single player game. Like the og halo series, metal gear rising revengence or devil may cry, that way I know I make a little bit of progress no matter how long I play. It sucks but I realized you just need time for this game and thats one thing I dont have a lot of.
