Is trials worth it?

So I’ve never done trials. I’ve never really been interested in trials but I like the armor this season. Specifically, the warlock helmet and chest piece. So for someone who’s never done trials, is it worth doing if only to get the armor? If so, if so, do rewards work the same way in crucible? Some drops here and there regardless of wins or losses? Or should I not bother?

Buy ferocity passage, get to 7 wins then replace the passage with the wealth passage. Your goal should be maximizing your rep, not going flawless so don’t reset in an attempt to go flawless. ALWAYS stay with at least 1 teammate, don’t initiate fights and don’t solo push or flank by yourself. No need to play only on sun/mon within the non-flawless pool, play whenever you want but make sure you only solo queue.

  • Buy a passage of wealth 1st, stay behind your teamates and team shoot, use a long range weapon and a shotgun, sth like that, use an exotic that helps your teamates. Once you win 20 rounds your rep points will be larger, meaning that even if you loose, you'll still get a decent amount. Drops start once you reach seven wins, but they are VERY rare, usually ascendant shards. Do not reset your card. It will take you several hours to get 10 engrams (3-4 probably). If you are OK with all of this, then try it out. Play on Sunday after reset, once Flawless pool is active, for easier time. It's just a game after all, so no loot is worth it if you're not having at least some amount of fun. As for toxic players, just turn chat off, any type of it, and ignore them. If your teammates start shooting or hitting you, shoot them back, constantly run in front of them and shoot them the entire round and you can be sure they'll never do it again lol

    • Good question, trials is very competitive. No SBMM but based on wins on a card. If you are not a PvP main please don’t expect to go flawless as you don’t have enough PvP experience under your belt. If you want to get adept trials weapons you will have to invest time into PvP just like you do for PvE.

      • It's not my favorite, but you can grind for what you want. Might get slapped around a bit though, so if you get frustrated with losses it's not gonna be for you.(unless you're not like me and actually good at elim)

      • I would say… no. Trials is RIDICULOUSLY hard and punishing. It’s one of the most hated modes in all of destiny. Trials weeks always has a bunch of people complaining on the forums about its difficulty, reward system, and many other things. I’ve never even tried to play trials, due to said problems. Probably never will try it.
do rewards work the same way in crucible? Some drops here and there regardless of wins or losses? Or should I not bother?
If all you want is the helm and the robes, you will need to get engrams from Saint. Those drop post game on a card that has obtained 7wins on it on a WIN and also you get engrams through reputation on the reward track from Saint. I think (IIRC) you will need 3 engrams per item you want. Quickest way to get those engrams is to obtain 7 wins on a card and keep playing until you have all the engrams you need. a Card with 7 wins has the chance to drop engrams on a win AND grants more reputation on for the reward track.
