i win against a team i get 5 i rematch the same team lose i get -200 makes no sense straight up lying about how the point system works

Poor team balancing and SBMM. I play people in Ascendent when I am in Gold and up. All my placement games i was playing people in Ascendent and i am a 1.2 KD.
-
7 RepliesWhy do I see so many players in the Adept rank that barely have a positive KD? Its the last rank before Ascendant...
-
I just find whenever I start to gain ground, the game throws complete potatoes on my team. I could lose with a 4.0 and get docked -200 points. Not really competitive if you do the best in the lobby and lose ground.
-
Points reduction/gains are based on your performance and a difference in ranks between teams, it's a pretty stupid system, considering we have sbmm and it doesn't even work properly. Sometimes I sweat in a close match vs similar opponents and get 40 points, sometimes I win in a pretty unbalanced match without even trying and get 200 points. They should return an older comp ranked system which we had in season 4 to 7, it's less confusing and actually shows who is good and who isn't, like in literally any other game

I know this is scummy but if you see the game going downhill and you feel your gonna lose a lot of points. Just quit the match. You lose 75 compared to 200. I know is very scummy and people are going to cal me all kinds of names. But that’s what people do to game the system.

7 RepliesYou think you should get more points for beating a team worse than you? And lose less rank losing to a team worse than you? Reach.
-
5 RepliesLol. They got you comp players chasing a carrot on a stick, your never going to reach, ans the stick keeps getting longer no matter how much you try.
-
That because the comp system was glued together to appease the loudest people in the room*low skilled and casual players*. They also didn’t take in account people using 3 party devices. Also they expect the best player on team to carry because the numbers say so with out calculating human error. So even if you lose but have a positive kd according to the system you should of won because you may be the best player in the lobby. This may be why you lose so many points.

1 ReplyEdited by FataLVisioN_Oo: 4/9/2023 7:19:53 PMYeah played a few teams multiple times in a row and got +5, +200, -200, +400. It's almost like it's completely random 🤣 will beat teams that are all 2+ KD (which is way higher then me) and get any random number from +5 - +200 for reasons and if I lose to a team of all 2+ kd's I typically lose -100 - 200 Thought maybe it had something to do with performance but there are times where I have the highest KD on the team with the most opponents defeated and I'll get +5 while my buddy who is at the bottom and went negative gets +200 🤷♂️ so that theory is out the window lol. He literally went AFK in a match to eat and moved his character just enough to not get booted and got +200 😂

7 RepliesEdited by Nicholas Goatifi’s 8 WDCs: 4/9/2023 7:27:31 PMWhen Bungie announced the Crucible/ Comp/ Trials changes, they also explained how they calculate points and divisions for Comp. It said that if the algorithm puts you in the most balanced skill bracket possible for YOU (where you can have a 1.0+ K/D with close games basically), they throttle your points gained until you clearly dominate that division and the algorithm is forced to move you up. If you lose a lot of points, that means you lost either to a team worse than you, or you were placed in too high of a division so the game is working to bring you down to the best possible division for you. Same can be said if you don’t get a lot of points after a win. Usually means you were placed against a team much worse than you. Per Bungie’s “Lightfall Crucible Update” blog post: “We don’t just look at your stats and pick a random skill. Each player starts out with a neutral skill value, and they play against other players, all of whom have some skill value: neutral if they haven’t played, or some positive or negative number if they have. After the match, it ranks all the players based on a wide variety of internal stats (much more than what we show on the scoreboard), generally weighted toward stats that are correlated with winning. Once everyone is ranked, it looks to see if there are any players out of place (Guardian A played better than Guardian B, but Guardian B has a higher skill). It takes those two Guardians and tweaks their skill values, pushing A up, and pushing B down. It’s important to note that, like the Elo rating system, our skill system is always relative, and the adjustments are made by looking at the other Guardians in your match. Over time, it becomes more and more confident in player skill, and will start reducing the amount skill can be pushed up or down after a match. You must play better than your skill consistently over several matches before it will improve your skill, so it can feel like you get “stuck” in your skill, and this translates to your Competitive Division.” “ You can feel like you played well. What you don’t see is that you were matched up against an opposing team with an average skill well below yours, making your gains minimal. This is one of the most common ways of only gaining five points. We want to show you an average of the other team’s skills on the scoreboard, so you can have a better idea of both how good your team is (especially compared to you) and how good the opposing team is. If you win, your Division rank will go up, even if the skill system thinks you should go down (this is the another of the ways you can get five points). Conversely, if you lose, your Division rank will go down, even if the skill system thinks you should go up (the losses that result in losing five points). We are taking a hard look at these values. Skill is attempting to judge your individual performance relative to the other players, not whether your team won or lost. We have investigated removing the forced positive or forced negative rank changes, but believe it will feel worse to lose points on a win than it does to gain them on a loss. Alternatively, we could increase the minimum points gained and lost from five to a higher value, but that means you would lose more rank in games where you performed well but didn’t pull out the win than you do currently. Finally, if you are well above your target Division, it scales your gains down, and your losses up. If you are well below your target Division, it scales your gains up and your losses down. This can result in some five-point wins, but we think this is working well right now, based on the graph above.” Sorry for the wall of text lol. Hope that explains it for you!

I would know! I played with him! we played as a group of 3, all with similar skill. went against the same teams a crap ton to lose/win, sometimes sweaty people we can't beat. No matter what we would only receive a max of 60-80 but 75% of the time, we would be getting +5 and it was getting extremely annoying losing 1 game after a 5 win streak just to lose 150-200+. +5 for 1 win 5 in a row is obviously 25 Lose 1 and you lose 100+ Setting you way further back from just winning 5. If you were to start from 0 and make your way up to max rank, it would take 2000 games of wins in a row just to get ascendant. pretty crappy ranking system. Worst I have ever seen in any game with a competitive division.
