Y’all weren’t an indie company coming into destiny and I don’t understand the use of a P2P system in a game that can only be played online. The player base has been asking for this for close to a decade. You’re actually one of the few companies left still using p2p. -blam!- even Minecraft has dedicated servers lol

I like to imagine some guy walking towards a room at bungie and he curiously opens a door marked "server room" and it's this eldritch horror, this massive all knowing slug with a million eyes and grotesque looking. Coming out of it are a thousand wires sucking the life out of it and as the million eyes make contact with the worker it sends a telepathic thought to him "kill me" it says. The worker then closes the door and says "still working"

1 ReplyWell they haven't done for the first 8 or 9 years of a 10 year project, but I'm sure after reading your suggestion they'lll get right on to it 👍
-
I’m pretty sure bungie doesn’t use servers?
-
After 9 years of dragging their present servers along …..only two years left so it will never happen . It would cost Bungie a fortune and they would have to rebuild from the ground up so no go . With a new destiny instalment there will be new servers 🤷🏼♂️

1 ReplyBungie: Overdelivering
-
Why would bungie change anything ? They already have the suckers money for recycled garbage.
-
1 ReplyBut that would mean cutting into their Christmas bonuses. Seriously though, Bungie is milking this game for as little effort and money as possible.
-
Use? You mean build, right? Dedicated servers require infrastructure. Multiple, on every continent. It would cost tens, maybe even hundreds of millions of dollars. For a game that’s now in the final year of its life cycle. It really isn’t as simple as just turning them on, and it’s only worth it for competitive games. Bungie has no incentive to spend all of that money for a game they will be abandoning when Matter releases. Not to mention, the infrastructure wouldn’t be finished in time. Don’t know if you’ve ever tried to build hundreds of buildings internationally, but it’s a little complicated.

2 RepliesThe issue with servers is that they are area based and the further you are from the server the worse connection you get and that hurts a large group of players. Peer to peer might not be the best but its better than lagging due to connection distance. Also bungie doesn’t have the money to even consider setting up servers in a small country like South Korea and the US would be a chore. It could also be an ISP issue… which isnt yours or bungies issue and sucks worse than anything else
-
If they’re not going to fix it then implement an option for region lock so I’m not matching against players from Pluto
-
That won’t happen : enjoy facing players from China, Korea, Saoudi Arabia and Russia while being based in EU
-
4 RepliesYou can't just plug in some servers and turn them on and have dedicated servers. It would take money and effort Bungie has not proven capable of (of recent). Our best bet is we get them when we get a new game (D3 or whatever they end up calling it).
-
Seriously? Ain't gunna happen.
-
If they went 7-8 years this way do you really think they are ever going to change it? Maybe on their next game after Destiny
-
they do not care. never going to happen. you have a better chance being struck by lightning.
-
12 RepliesNah, Bungie insists that their monstrous hybrid architecture is the best way to go.
-
Uh huh just before this saga ends uproot everything……
-
2 RepliesEdited by Azoths_Gambit: 4/7/2023 3:46:01 PMI've heard tell they've basically said they will never do that because they don't want to spend money on the game.
-
Been saying this for years it isn’t hard to do they just won’t do it even when it’s been proven time and time again that the current state of the servers they have now is objectively obsolete compared to dedicated servers because they wouldn’t have 90% of the issues they have if they had dedicated servers
-
4 Repliesyou're beating a dead horse - Bungie has already said it will never offer dedicated servers. That P2P is better for the type of gaming Destiny is. I don't advocate it, but constantly whining about something they already announced they wouldn't do is pretty redundant and pointless. It's completely different from complaining about something that they fail to acknowledge
-
Ain’t happening in d2s lifetime. Hope their new IP runs on actual servers
-
Highly unlikely…
-
Not going to happen esp this late in the franchise.
-
sadly is impossible
