1257 enemies killed, 85 minutes, 12 deaths. That's the tally up of my solo(!) run of Avalon on Legend, after the difficulty was reduced.
Wow! This mission has way too many enemies.
I play with a very, very powerful Ophidia Spathe build that lets me throw infinite knives, cause lots of ignitions, and have tons of regeneration.
There were many times during this mission I just threw piles and piles of knives into neverending masses of Vex. This was especially bad in the motes encounter, where I found myself multiple times only being able to do damage to the actual boss whenever i got my Blade Barrage, since shielded Hydras and Minotaurs were pouring out of everywhere like a waterfall.
Even with very powerful add clear and regeneration, I simply could not clear all these very dangerous adds and damage the boss much before they'd start spawning again.
This was maybe the hardest thing I've done in this game yet, on the level of soloing a dungeon. Severe difficulty shift when compared to Legend seraph station!
But that wasn't the problem: the problem is that the masses of enemies made it so monotonous and slow that it wasn't fun. It was incredibly bizarre to catch myself thinking "oh, I got my super, now I can take a break from the adds to do some damage!" like I'm at a manufacturing job or something.
Difficult sure, but badly paced is just bad.
I think the spawn rate of minor enemies all across this mission should be reduced. I chewed so much gristle doing this that I straight up wasn't really having fun.

1 ReplyThe difficulty reduction only impacted the Multiplicity modifier when in a fireteam larger than 1 member.

I killed 1500 in normal. Legend would be crazy. I love high enemy density. Especially the second room was nuts but at legend that’s way too spongy

It was boring. Shoot the square, shoot the triangle, kill the Vex, jump like a trained monkey, over and over and over. Mindless.
