Sure, it's understandable if things are disabled for fixes or given selective nerfs if absolutely broken. I don't have a problem with that.
But consistently nerfing things into the ground? This isn't fun. The game feels like it's all about an arms race between players wanting to have fun and Bungie trying to nerf what's popular to control the meta. Why can't EVERYTHING be good? Not OP, but in really good states. And STAY that way?
And if something's in a good state, can it NOT be nerfed just because it's popular? Bungie makes awesome new stuff all the time, there'd still be a draw to use new things. But HAVING to use them absolutely as a requirement because other stuff was neutered? Not fun.
And I'm still praying Bungie will un-eviscerate Sanguine Alchemy when other wallhacks exotics for other classes got to keep the functionality or got it restored. I understand the PvP concerns, but if other classes get to keep theirs, why remove it from the Warlock one even for PvE?
Then there's the synthoceps nerf. I feel bad for Titan mains. And glaive users. Wouldn't just a fix to the broken OP issue have been sufficient there?

16 RepliesSo what are they nerfing again?

2 RepliesI don't like the way they manage the game, but I also haven't paid for an expansion since Beyond Light (one year after it was released), and I haven't paid for a season since Season of the Lost.

1 ReplyYou have made many valid points. I really can't fathom what goes on in the heads of the people at Bungie who "balance" the game. The Immortal and Subs had to be playtested before Lightfall was released yet their Meta. Why because Bungie intentionally creates a Meta to force people to play a certain way. They don't want us playing our way. They want us playing their way. It surprised me SamiKat got the attention she did. She uses all bows. She doesn't use the Meta like Bungie clearly intends for the rest of the community. Their shouldn't be a Meta. All guns should be viable in PvP and PvE. Instead of Nerfing equipment into the ground keep the stats and effectiveness of them separate from PvP and PvE. Warframe for example balances things in PvP separately and differently than PvE and that's a successful system as it doesn't take away from the power fantasy of PvE while keeping PvP fair. Digital Extremes who makes Warframe is a far smaller company and yet they succeed in pleasing fans because they listen to feedback, communicate regularly with their fanbase and design content tailored to their fans. Bungie on the other hand takes your money and says ok we'll disregard what you want and make what we want. You don't gain customers or players that way. You lose them. I'm holding out till Final Shape then waiting to see what they do after that. As they have stated they intend to keep going after Final Shape. They need to take a long look at themselves and learn from D.E. because Warframe is and always has been good to it's dedicated fan base.

I’ll never understand why Bungie insists on forcing us to play how they want. Why I have to use specific broken builds or struggle mightily only to have those builds nerfed the following season to make way for the new meta. Like you said, why can’t everything be viable so we can all play however TF we want!?
-
100% agreed, they fundamentally don’t understand what makes playing the game enjoyable and how to enhance it. Ever since sunsetting it’s been clear they just aren’t on the same page as the people who love and actually play the game.
-
8 RepliesBoycott the elites and streamers make them never want to play this game again then destiny can go back to being fun 😉

Agreed, nerf this nerf that, anything that's useful to player engagement get nerfed. Its beyond ridiculous.

1 ReplyBuddy I’m with you, I’m caring less and less about this game
-
Like, you can adjust something down without taking a squat and shitting all over it.
-
Bungie either buff something to the point that it's insanely overpowered or nerf it so much it's useless. There's no middle ground.
-
2 RepliesIt's their stupid fundamental flaw in design philosophy. They've had the game pretty perfectly balanced at certain points in time only to f*ck it all up by TINKERING with stuff. They don't create content really. They just reskin sh*t, add some new perks, keep changing menu and systems needlessly. There isn't much of an experiencefor quite a long time. In the early days of Destiny, the game had a lot of wow factor, and felt really new. That's getting close to a decade ago and the formula hasn't changed all that much. Those are the core issues that need to be called out over and over.

1 ReplyPower creep and Live service game, with almost infinite configurations of weapons and abilities. Absolutely impossible to balance. Accept it. Or don't, it's up to you...🤷

3 RepliesEdited by Artisan: 4/6/2023 2:01:39 PMThey explicitly said they would stop with shipping things deliberately too hot leading to inevitable corresponding nerfs. Mmm not really true was it. The Immortal, as one painful example. So the problem isn't the nerfs as much as Bungie setting things up to absolutely need nerfs and their knowing that. The specific problems of Warlock have been much covered. Sanguine was gutted, seemingly for Class identity purposes. This leads to Hunter having the only wall hacks, the only Invis, the only radar manipulation, which is frankly ridiculous for PvP balance. And again, its lack of consistency in that approach. If they want MAJOR exclusivities in some of the most powerful and OP features, then don't simultaneously give away Devour in PvP, give away Arc Web in PvP, give away Ionic Traces.

Edited by TheShadow: 4/6/2023 8:26:42 PM
Why can't EVERYTHING be good? Not OP, but in really good states. And STAY that way?
You answered your own question. It's to contoll things, not things you want, its to control what they want. Anything that is a benefit to the players especially if it's fun to use they will "fix it" immediately. If it's the opposite, it won't be touched for months. In spite of anyones personal issues with me, It would be wise to look over this games history, this business actions of what they have done in this game that shows what I say is a fact. There is no balance in this game because it's a business that refuses to create any sort of balance, and "balance" doesn't sell DLC.

5 RepliesCan't wait for all the complaining about starfire nerf

Cause hunters get it for two seconds, not the duration of the rift, and it's tied the strength, which let me tell you the smoke bomb is kinda buts

Synthocepts is one of the best exotics in the game. The nerf only applied to their interaction with glaives, which is only a recent addition to the exotic.

11 RepliesBut then you have not reason to watch “streamer” crappy videos to see what the new “meta” is. And we all know that Bungie have to keep their free advertisers happy. This has been going on since Destiny launched. At this point anyone that disagrees is just trolling or in complete denial.
-
6 RepliesCan't imagine feeling bad for glaive users. Wanna talk excessive? The number of glaives we're getting.

Guardian, Archon Of LightArchon Priest Of House Light - old
Destiny has been a roller coaster of excessive buffs and nerfs since day 1 , after you have been here long enough you learn that power is temporary -
HAMSTER. WHEEL.

You just gonna ignore the multitude of deserved buffs the game has had in the recent months? Or do we simply focus on the negative 24/7?
-
100% with you We need a more stable sandbox. The amount of times I see an update and think “oh great, that roll or that gun that I farmed ages for is worthless now” Or all the rolls I’ve deleted that would be good now (looking at you zen moment/adrenaline junkie) 600 vault slots but we have to be hoarders because the sandbox is so volatile and we can’t pull guns back out of the aether after deletion.
-
They nerfed my Titan shield bash the only nerf I am mad at to this day. It is okay, but your dumb hunter cries can’t help you run away from the torment because after a shield bash I simply follow up with a quick melee. I know I am gonna get a lot backlash for this.
-
2 RepliesI remember them taking away the damage buff from one eyed mask yet the rain of fire exotic have access to damage buffs on kills with solar weapons. Wish OEM could’ve gotten a similar treatment

If bungo didn't nerf things into the ground then what will happen to the enemies in PvE content? Won't anybody think of the NPCs?!
