Lake of Shadows Champions
Lake of Shadows NF, PS4.
For whatever dumb reason my fireteam wiped fighting the boss. When we respawned a message popped up saying that two champions had spawned. I tried to go back but they had jumped down and I got joining allies. We had killed everything up to that point but got silver at the end because of this.

I've experienced the same issue with Champion spawn messages appearing after wiping in this boss room and locking the champion rewards at Silver as well. Platinum rewards seems to apply normally if you progress through the whole nightfall without wiping in the boss room, but it is frustrating to be unduly punished for wiping

I just had this same issue. I tried running it in Legend and my fireteam died at the boss. A message jumped up and said two champions spawned but only the Barrier Colossus was in the arena. Then just did it 20 min ago on Master and after a boss room wipe, the message popped that (3) champions spawned. Again with only the Barrier Colossus in the arena. It lost me Platinum rewards twice and my upgrade to Guardian level 8. Fix this please Bungie or go into the game history and fix my rewards.
