An embarrising question - Warlock jumping

My warlock is my favorite character with hundreds of hours play time. I can wiz around and get airborne most of the time but occasionally everything goes to s*** and I just cannot get any airborne height or move especially just after a resurrection. The number of times I have missed my target and fallen off because I cannot get any height or move forward is hugely embarrassing(especially when you are trying to catch up with more mobile players). Any polite suggestion on what the issue is or how to change my approach would be hugely appreciated as its time to try fix this long term issue! *** Thanks everyone for taking the time to respond

  • 1: use burst glide. Always 2: jump with intent. Double tap the jump button for a strong push towards your goal, & then gently float into it. If you overshoot, cancel the glide & reactivate it when you're close to where you're heading.

    • There's no going back up on a Warlock. Use a sword for jumping puzzles if you're having problems.

    • Check your armor mods. I run high resilience so my mobility is kind of low and it effects my jumping. I sometimes change one piece for high mobility for a tricky bit of jumping in a battleground.

    • 3 things. 1) run a sword, it can save you. 2) be moving or *running 3) Always quickly press the jump button twice that will get you moving up. Then you can hit it a 3rd time to level out. (something like that). (2) quick press is the key.

    • While Warlocks’ Glide is generally well suited for long distance jumps or when trying to land on small ledges, it is unfortunately quite unforgiving in terms of recovering when one accidentally steps off a ledge. Unfortunately the main options for trying to recover using in-game mechanics each have their own drawbacks: • Grapple Grenade - requires you to run Strand and Grapple Grenade and have a grenade charge to spend. • Blink - requires you to run Void, locks you out of using the standard Glide abilities making certain types of jumps more difficult than usual, has an inherent cooldown even when paired with Astrocyte Verse which may require you to wait for said cooldown in situations where serial jumping is necessary, and requires fairly quick reaction times to properly recover. • Icarus Dash - requires you to run Solar, has an inherent cooldown, provides zero lift meaning you have to react very quickly to a sudden fall and have a nearby ledge within reach that you can also turn yourself toward to activate the mantling mechanic. Can be paired with Wings of Sacred Dawn or Heat Rising, but the former takes up an Exotic slot while the latter requires prior consumption of a grenade which isn’t usually something one does before accidentally stepping off a ledge. Ultimately the best solution for a Warlock that can be used regardless of build is not based on in-game mechanics but rather on player behavior; slow down just a tad and put more thought into your jumps. • If a jump is especially long or daunting, take the extra half second to consider the jump before committing to it. • Press your jump button a few steps before reaching a ledge (where reasonable) on the off chance that your input is eaten, so you can correct your movement to avoid plummeting to your doom.
