Contacting Destiny 2 servers/black screen/put to orbit

About 4 weeks ago I started seeing the "ATTENTION: Contacting Destiny 2 servers" message after about 5 minutes being in game. I rarely had encountered that message before. The message popped up earlier if I went to the Tower, so I tried to limit that. Because after a couple of minutes of that message, I would either be dropped to desktop and had to restart Destiny, or the game would restart on its own. Error messages ran the gamut: bee, bat, beaver, marionberry, rabbit, rutabaga, centipede, plum, honeydew, baboon, anteater are the ones I saw most often. Checked the error messages for what they meant. Then I checked my drivers, all up to date. I then tweeked some game and PC settings (DNS, firewall, etc.) as suggested by the networking guide and other users' various posts, and I reloaded the game (am wired so the wifi issue wasn't an issue, and the router is less than 5 feet from my PC). Tested my internet connection, which came back as 'fast' [ Dwnld Mbps 90.65, Upld Mbps 0.61, Ping ltcy 0.19, dnld ltcy 35, uplad ltcy 19]. Checked latency using Windows resource monitor--running between 86 and 109 for destiny.exe. The situation improved a bit after the tweeks--I could remain in game longer IF I avoided playlist activities (gambit, crucible, strikes, etc.), but even then just solo PvE playing, after 40-45 minutes the same connection message and game dropping would occur (with same errors). If I did playlist activities, same short connection and being dropped occured as mentioned in first paragraph. Contacted my ISP. They tested my connection and said there was nothing they could see causing latency. Leaving my (older) router as one of the 2 things I could change (getting a new PC was another, but the PC is only 2 years old--specs are i5-9400 CPU @ 2.90GHz w/16GB RAM). So I got a new router that allowed for UPnP and Port Forwarding. Set that up as per the Bungie Advanced Networking Guide. I turned on Game Accelerator in the router to reduce game latency and boost game speed. Gave my PC top priority always. Things are better. I can usually do 1 strike or 1 PvP match without issue. But if I do more than 1 single playlist activity, I get an ingame networking error message and that they're trying to reconnect me [arugula, . Then I get the 'black screen'--I hear the action, but I cannot participate nor do I see any of the activity I am in. If I am successful in escaping out of the black screen, I get a message I left the activity early. If I remain, I get to the commendations screen and can give those, and I get bounties for completing a gambit or crucible match completed, but I see the "you left the activity early" message still (which seems odd since at some level the game gives me completion credit). This 'black screen' issue is most prevalent in Gambit; I generally cannot complete a match without the 'black screen.' Not sure what else to do. Checked latency using Windows resource monitor--runs between 80 and 100. ?

  • Hi there! Your upload speeds are well below the requirements needed for Destiny 2, which is at least 1Mbps up and down. Your upload speeds appear to be getting throttled. Please contact your ISP again and request that they review your upload speeds to ensure that they meet your ISPs plan.
