The description reads: "Final blows of energy types matching this weapon's alignment grant increased damage for a short period of time?
Pretty simple right? No. If you read what the perk does on Light.GG which is tied to the games database the perk description also reads: "Upon getting a kill from any source matching the alignment (Light/Darkness) of the weapon:
Grants 20% increased damage for 6 seconds
Light Alignment: Arc, Solar Void
Darkness Alignment, Stasis, Strand"
The problem is that this perk FORCES you to use that SPECIFIC alignment just to receive a 20% damage boost.
"Where's the problem in that? Glad you asked, the problem is that this perk exists on multiple weapons (As of the writing of this post the perk exists on the Root of Nightmares raid weapons) and is tied to a specific alignment locking you out of the other alignment just for a 20% damage bonus.
"I see no harm in that, you can just use / build a loadout containing that alignment and you're fine" No, this is not an excuse for a poorly designed perk that has multiple competitors such as Kill Clip, Rampage, Focused Fury, Vorpal Weapon, Firing Line, Killing Tally and the list goes on. And that's not even the kicker, the kicker is that if you ignore the description of the perk and use the opposite alignment, you just wasted a perk column because you chose not to use the other alignment.

Edit: Upon further investigation this post is no longer valid and is complete and udder crap

1 ReplyIsn't it also the case that you could just... get a kill with the weapon?
