Hot Take: Savathun is actually on our side
Don’t really know if this is a Hot Take since we kinda all know it but dang, she didn’t need to die in WQ.
Let’s think of the bad things she’s done to us:
Started the Dreaming City curse
Taken the Traveler to protect it
Had the Lucent Hive fight us and kill our ghosts
“Stole the Light”
Inhabited Osiris
Edit: she tricked Crota to bring the vex into the moon and contributed into the Great Disaster. She’s partially responsible for the death of Cayde (thanks L30n)
Now let’s think of the good:
Trapped Rhulk in her Throne World
Killed Nezarec (go check the new raid exotic lore)
Arguably brought the Traveler to us (Fundament Shell)
Hid Neomuna from everyone and brought us to it by Osiris
Protected us by hiding the Traveler from the Witness
Is aiding through the “prophecies”’of two truths, two lies”
Warned us of the Witness
So did she really deserve to die?
She arguably has been on our side from the beginning, or rather, the Travelers side
She basically ordered the Lucent Brood to attack in self defense and preemptively striking a hostile force
Aaand she had no memory
But will she be rezzed?
No
Immaru is too bad an apple to do that, he’s the main reason why the Lucent brood aren’t Allied with us. (Bungos gotta keep a reason to have them state hostile)
She may be dead, but if she were to be rezzed, I think she would be in our side.

1 ReplyI feel like the traveler revived her so she would be an ally with us. We ended up killing her. She is already against the witness anyway.

She had to do bad things against us because sword logic, now she is free from the Darkness and has the power of the Light, she also isnt fully dead, her ghost is alive still, she will come back and will help us, probably in a later season.

I have been saying this ad nauseum for a year The whole story of season of Risen is ridiculous, why would the Lucent Brood need to drain light from humans when they have the same light And Savathun was right, her throne world would have been the most secure place for the Traveler, not even a powerful being has Rhulk could pierce it I think it's mainly because Bungie wrote themselves into a corner, with already naming the expansions revealing titles like lightfall , if We and Savathun are on the same page, light doesn't fall -
Savathûn is not and has never been on our side. She’s on her own side. Keep in mind her plan in Witch Queen would’ve seen us rendered Lightless and helpless against our enemies. Her plan in Risen would’ve seen Earth invaded by her forces. Savathûn may be an ally against the Witness should she be resurrected, but do not ever trust that she won’t backstab you if it benefits her.

So did we all just collectively forget the fact that in Risen she sent her Hive to summon a chunk of her Throne World on the moon so she could invade Earth?

I wouldn’t say ally, we have a common enemy. Because sure, she’s kept us alive to be used us as a fighting force but she did just try to steal the Traveler. Which would of sealed it away, robbing us of our Light. That would of doomed the entire cosmos. So the culmination of her help was to ultimately doom us anyway. So since she did it all as a self serving master plan? She gets a thanks but there’s the door, one chance to leave and take her brood in peace after the war is over. Which means we will see her later after she gains some new weird scary space magic.
