Nimbus should’ve been the one to sacrifice themselves
The Cloud striders look at their own lives differently than those on Earth it seems and even with Nimbus coming off cynical, it would’ve gave Nimbus a better send off than Rohan.
Rohan could’ve looked at Nimbus and realized that there isn’t someone else to teach that wasn’t introduced into the story, frightening Rohan to seeing he may not even be around to teach a new generation of Cloud striders. Rohan could’ve easily become frightened, truly eclipsed in teaching Osiris and our guardian what it means to be a Cloud strider, with everything behind ideals and the actual sacrifices. Rohan then could’ve looked at the mural of the youthful and cheery Cloud striders, realizing that even in defense of Neomuna, war itself is terrible and there should be peace, even to the point of closing off the entire planet to the rest of the universe, similar to what Savathun wanted in a sense.
Rohan’s character was truly wasted.

In vain (as our ghost ended up being a pseudo radial mast in the end anyways) but not forgotten, which is due in part to us (a demigod at this point) getting "exhausted" from using a new power (unlike stasis where we just got the hang of it naturally without any negative aftereffects, weird ain't it, that's the bungie script writing indeed..) and failing to do the one task we needed to do at that very moment

Yup would this have been a great "subvert expectations" story if Rohan was the one to live and the young "student" dies instead!? Seriously it's just bad writing. Everyone knew from the start Rohan was dead and to just roll with the stereotype was dumb

All I'm saying is the individuals who made these narrative / character personality decisions for Lightfall should have a note put in their personal file for their next performance job review.

We have 20 Rohan’s already, we don’t have any Nimbus like characters. High energy, optimistic, and competent. Just because you don’t like him doesn’t mean no one does. Not every character is going to be one you like. Get over it.

He was boring and the game didn't do anything novel or interesting with him before killing him off. But you knew they weren't going to kill the 'quirky' high-energy character (especially when they're non-binary), we're supposed to like them and think they're cool. And to be fair, I don't hate Nimbus; they just come across as an entirely artificial construction designed to elicit specific emotions from the player while handing them quests and exposition. There's not a lot of development done to Nimbus's [i]character[/i], just to their role in the game. Destiny's mainline writing throughout the seasons has mostly been a very thin sheet thrown over the live service structure of the game, so it's disappointing that, when they have the space of a larger campaign to work with, the writing team kept things so shallow and obvious. : \

12 RepliesDoes it really matter seeing they only live 10 years? He’s a character like Shaw that’s designed to appeal to the younger players. I personally find Nimbus annoying but I find Shaw even more annoying. Nobody wants to be Shaw… Not even Shaw.

Actually if this was a petition and Shaw was included, i'd vote Shaw; voices are voices so we need to accept everyone doesn't sound "normal". I'd vote Shaw because of his stupidity, including the reason why his fireteam died.
