There is so much wrong with these systems it's hard to know where to start but here is some feedback about these pretty much useless systems starting with the commendation system... [u][b]Commendation System[/b][/u] - UI is bad, bugs with it aside the fact you have no context on the screen right away to decide who to award is a huge miss. - The time to give the awards is way to short, there is no reason to not just have a quicker ability to return to orbit if you want out and more time and end of activities to give awards if that's your thing. - Why is Hawthorn giving an arbitrary power drop for giving out these awards and why are guardian ranks tied to receiving these? Something like a commendation should be window dressing to show how good/helpful you are on top of things not mandatory to progress in the game. [u][b]Guardian Ranks[/b][/u] - Everyone who was playing pretty much started at 6 which was silly, could we have not found a better way to pick a starting point that was more exemplary of the things a player has achieved. I personally have done a lot more than joe newbie at the end of last season but I've also done a lot less then top tier raid people yet somehow we are all the same rank. - How did we come up with the way this will progress? Like you literally do a lot of things just 1 or 2 times in order to move up in ranks which makes the ranks themselves less about ability or 'rank' and more just about did you do the thing for this season? Congrats everyone gets to be level 11 by the end of the season! - If these reset seasonally what's the point? Seriously why do I care if these don't stick, or if just the highest level sticks why just that? The whole implementation of them feels like I shouldn't care what rank I or anyone is. - Absolutely if these are tied to the LFG as is in any way that's due out later in the year as a gatekeeping capability that will be one of the all time dumbest things ever done, especially considering as implemented they are barely in anyway way reflective of capability or ability or experience. [b]TLDR?[/b] These systems feel hap hazardly slapped together and tac'd onto the game in such a manner that they don't feel good to interact with. If the goal was to give players a sense of progression and reward for a job well done you've completely missed the mark bungie you should revisit and revamp these systems to be better if you are going to keep them in the game. [b]How to make them better, some final thoughts[/b] 1) Guardian ranks should be a linear progression that is cosmetic in nature only, IE you get a rank it keeps going up based on things you do. The things you do should be similar to triumphs just less convoluted in scoring. IE maybe doing flawless of any raid is tied to a rank flawless of multiple raids tied to another so on and so forth so that your accomplishments are easily visible in what your rank is...IE if say rank 10 or 15 was the max possible rank in such a system you know someone with that rank has done a crap ton of hard to do feats in the game to get there...you then know that 15 or whatever means something. 2) Commendations need to make sense, the screen needs info on it immediately so you know who to give these to in a meaningful way. 3) Commendations probably should be tied to some titles based on the type of commendations you receive in specific activities, any tie in to power gain should be removed from this system if you need to give players power to give out kudos your kudos system is bad.
