Without Lance Reddick, there is no Zavala. Devastating loss. He will be missed.

I’d imagine a lot of the voice acting for the next expansions is probably done tbh

2 RepliesI agree. Zavala without Lance Reddick loses substance and identity. There are iconic actors that are instrincally related to characters which become worthless without them. Think of Breaking Bad without Bryan Cranston(Walter White) and Aaron Paul(Jesse Pinkman) It wouldn't be the same show without these two... Zavala with another tone voice would lose his identity and would be a horrible miscast. Writers should find a nice and inspired way to finish Zavala. The saga is about to end anyways...and we're at the last chapter so this is a good timing.

1 ReplyI think they should give him an honorable end in-game and move on without him. Bungie has one year to make that happen in Final Shape. It would solve the voicing issue and make it a clean slate for the next Destiny saga, whatever that will be.
-
3 RepliesHe 100% should be recasted. Why kill off his character after the actor has died? It seems more honorable to have the character live on in his memory. Anyone would be lucky, and honored to continue as Zavala in his stead.

I say have us fight some crazy boss like Xivu Arath in a raid and have his final moment be after we bring her health to zero, she is about to wipe us anyway, he looks at us, says one word and nods: "guardian" and then thundercrashes Xivu into the sun or something over the top. He dies, saves us, and is his noble self to the end. Would make Lance proud. For solo players it could be a cutscene narrated by Ikora and telling the story of how great he was (Zavala) with a little wall breaking by blending it to be a reflection of how good of a person Lance was. A guardian to the end.

This was my first feeling, but seeing as the game is international, and not just for english speaking playerbases, it means that zavala is voiced by other VA's in other languages. So while he is zavala to us, he wasnt for others in other countries. It wouldnt be fair to kill off the character or even make sense. If the french VA passed away we wouldnt feel the same.

21 RepliesNot everyone is American, not everyone plays in English, not everyone worships actors like Gods. To me another human died, many die every day, it's how life works, stop acting like he was your family member !!!
-
I think Saint should take his place and give trials back to Osiris.
-
3 RepliesPeople seem to forget that Bungie has killed off characters simply because their American voice actors couldn't be a part of the game anymore, Cayde-6 and Lakismi or whatever her name was
-
1 ReplyCan we please kill Zavala like we did with Cayde-6? Fair enough Cayde was a legend. i still love him and just imagine a Nightmare Of Cayde-6? but anyway Zavala would be really cool to see die in destiny. The cabal get him maybe? Crow? Mithrax? I just think It would be really cool.

3 RepliesThere is technology that allows for a computer to use the voice of the actor and make new dialogue that sounds exact. They should pay the family royalties for this, however they probably have the right’s and wouldn’t be bound to anything
-
They should recast him....
-
He was Zavala in 2 destiny games never known that lol. :<

4 RepliesI’m sorry for Lance Reddick, my condolences to his family and friends. I also do enjoy his voice a lot, Peter Dinklage, Bill Nighy and him were part of the reasons someone like me who hadn’t played video games in 18y chose Destiny over other games. However imagine being so American that you think a character in the game should die for all his fans only because the English voice actor has passed away. I’m also convinced Lance himself would not have been ok with Zavala being killed in any way shape or form.

2 RepliesJust noting in advance. Voice acting, narration, and animation has already been done for the character in coming seasons. Please respect the legacy of an artist by honoring his final works rather than seeing it as an insult to his memory. Personally, i would have recut star wars with existing scenes to have Leia die at the end of last Jedi. That may not be something they can do here so if they end the character, Zavala will probably die off screen, but please be aware that he will appear in future content and viewing this content is no more disrespectful than watching a movie from his past. Please respect this final work, even knowing he never knew it was his final work, and may not be his greatest, but please respect it.

5 RepliesI came in here with exactly this thought in mind. Let Zavala go in a epic blaze of glory. Let us rescue Sloane from and let her become Titan Vanguard. Stop messing around and make Crow the new Hunter Vanguard and while your at it drop a Cabal Dropship on Shaw Han's head.
-
I'm very sorry for his loss, but don't forget about the other languages.
-
Recast him. They didn't recast BP because they thought the masses would cry racism. But it's what Chadwick would have wanted, and I'm sure Lance would prefer the character live on in his honor. And anyone would be proud and honored to continue on as Zavala in his stead.
-
Without Lance Reddick, there is no Zavala. Devastating loss. He will be missed.
He would not want that, Lance cared about the character more than anyone and he made that clear. Bungie clearly knows that because of the content related to Destiny that Lance occasionally made and posted.
-
31 RepliesDon't have to, AI exist you can simulate the voice and someone else can speak it or the AI itself. Zavala don't have to go because the actor died.
-
Hope not...but maybe have Deputy Commander Sloane take over for Zavala?
-
This. Don’t trash the character.
-
4 RepliesSaladin might take his place. If Caiatl let's him.
-
13 RepliesCayde and Ikora were both recasted. The show has to go on, at least till it makes sense. Not sure where Bungie intended the plot to go after this saga, and who would live or die, but they are going to honor Zavala more by sticking to the plan, because it's what Lance would want as a fan of the franchise. I get he love his character and made Zavala who we all know and love, but I don't think it would dishonor Lance at all with a recast done right, if it's to carry on Zavala's intended role. No it won't be the same, but this game and it's story, has to be bigger than the iconic cast that made it lovable. Can't always stop a project or alter it because of an untimely death. And who are we to say otherwise what Lance would want? Ultimately Bungie has a tough choice ahead of them, but odds are they will recast Zavala going forward
-
16 RepliesZavala shouldn't get killed off just because Reddick passed away. I'm as sad as the next guardian but this doesn't make a whole lot of business sense. Give someone else a chance to succeed Reddick because Zavala deserves it.

Pretty morbid to me
